Hello,
Hoping your weekend is going well. For me, this weekend is finally back to "normal." More about that later. Since it's Sunday, it's time for a new Paper Players challenge. This week, the very talented and sweet Joanne is our hostess and she has a fun Cards for Kids theme, combined with this month's CAS challenge.
The July SSS monthly kit's stamp set fit perfectly for Joanne's kid card theme. I made a birthday card.
I began by using my Socr-buddy to score 3/4" from all four edges of the card base. The panda image is stamped using Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copics, then cut out with a Die-namics Stitched Square die. I placed it in the desired location using temporary adhesive, and using my Misty, stamped the balloons. After coloring them with Copics, the square was popped up using dimensionals, matching the balloon strings. I kept embellishments minimal, just using a white gel pen to add lines on the balloons and some fuzzy little balls (thinking any kid would love them.)
Using more images from the set, I made the inside of the card.
To explain my back to normal weekends comment, I have been at my mom's in northern California for the past two and a half weeks. My younger brother passed away on August 4. Mom and I were with him in the hospital. My sister lives in Portland, so she wasn't able to make it in time, but did come. So, a very sad August for our family. We all doing okay, better every day.
It certainly felt good to get some crafting in this weekend. I made a few cards yesterday that I'll share in other posts later and over the next few days.
Thanks for looking in and have a nice afternoon,
Colleen

A FIN-tastic Day
Hello,
I hope everyone is enjoying the middle day of a nice long weekend. I know I am.
Yesterday I got together with my craft group friends for a little afternoon stamping session. We had a great time catching up, having lunch and making some cards. When I got home I did some organization of my ink pads on my desk. We'll see how I get along with it. I'm really thinking about ordering the ink pad, marker, re-inker storage sets from Stamp-n-storage. Just not sure I want to spend the money, but they sure look nice. I've had ink carousels for so long, but I find I don't like how much room they actually take up. Such a quandary.
I checked to see what The Paper Players Challenge had for us today. It's a theme challenge called "Lunch Box Love." Cute. I don't have any kiddies taking lunch, but I played along anyway.
The color scheme and the sketch comes from the new Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge. I'm so happy that Taylor has started another challenge. I'm sure with Jen running the show, we'll see some great sketches.
Following the Paper Players theme I pulled out one of my retired Moka sets to use. I stamped the image in Memento black and colored it with Copics then used a very liberal amount of Stickles, sequins and Wink of Stella for lots of sparkle.
Supplies
Stamps: Moka Pearl set by Taylored Expressions
Paper: TE card stock in the challenge colors
Ink: Memento tuxedo black and Copics
Other: TE Bubbles Impressions plate, TE ocean waves die, Die-namics rounded stitched rectangles STAX dies, green, blue, pink and crystal Stickles, Wink of Stella glitter pen, the Big Shot, dimensionals
Have a fun, safe and relaxing Labor Day. Thanks for coming by my blog,
Colleen
