Happy Day

Hi again,

Last evening I was home alone as the Personal Chef was out helping a friend cater a house warming party. I enjoyed some crafty time while watching (listening to) baseball.

Earlier in the day, I had seen the sketch over at the Pals Paper Arts blog by Ann, so I decided to play along. I got most of the card made last night, but couldn't decide on the focal element so I left it alone until this morning.

We walked down to the village for breakfast first. The weather is amazingly gorgeous this time of year. Sunny with soft ocean breezes so its so nice to be out and about. When we got home I returned to my card and finished it in no time.

For this card I actually started with my color palette. This year the SU catalog has card stock packs that go with DSPs starting on page 172. It's usually three recommended colors and I like to look there to get ideas. This color palette is Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum and Very Vanilla and it matches the Playful Palette paper pack.

I used two SU sets, "What I Love" from Sale-a-bration and "Perfectly Wrapped" from the catalog for the stamped images.

Have a great Sunday afternoon and evening. Tomorrow I have to work out in the Palm Springs area. It will be a scorcher, that's for sure!

Thanks,
Colleen

Congratulations

Hello again,

I grabbed a couple hours this morning to play with some sketches.

Linda Callahan is the Featured Stamper over at Pals Paper Arts this week and she has a really nice and simple sketch for us. When I saw it a few days ago, I knew I wanted to be sure to play along. The middle feature element looked perfect for a large sentiment stamp to me. Looking through my SU sets, here's what I came up with.

I kept it pretty simple, as you can see. I pulled the star theme from the star inside of "you" in the stamp and kept it going with the Taylored Expressions Star border die and the old, old, old SU silver star eyelet. To jazz it up, I added a very small orange enamel dot. The sentiment panel and border are cut with Die-namics Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX dies, I just cropped off the banner ends by turning the panels and cutting the flat end again.

OH, HELLO

Good morning all,

It's Monday and I'm really working, but since I made this card after dinner last night, I though I'd take some time to post it.

I'm playing with my latest goodies from Stampin' Up, specifically the new Sale-A-Bration set called Honeycomb Happiness. I think everyone who sees this sweet lil' chick thinks she's adorable!

I'm using the latest sketch from Pals Paper Arts, #284. This is an SU only card.

The chick is stamped onto SU Shimmery white card stock with SU Archival black ink and water colored with Blushing Bride ink with my aqua painter and Blushing Bride marker. Her beak and feet are colored with a Crisp Cantaloupe marker. I fussy cut the image and used SU dimensionals to attach to the front of the card. I dropped some Crystal Effects over her beak. The ballon is also stamped on Shimmery white, water colored with Hello Honey and Mint Macroon ink and fussy cut. I adhered it using mini glue dots, but only on one side so it looks more like it's floating, and then added a liberal amount of Wink of Stella over the balloon and ribbon.

I kept the inside super simple using another image from the stamp set and a greeting from Endless Birthday Wishes set.

Have a great week everyone and thanks for looking in,
Colleen
