You Are Made Of Wonderful - Paper Players Challenge 280

Wow, the last day of January already.

It's Sunday and time for another Paper Players challenge. Jaydee is our hostess this week and she has a fun Tic-Tac-Toe challenge for us.

For challenge #280, I choose to use the left vertical option of flowers, die cuts, yellow. I'm still inking up my new Stampin' Up sets and today I am using the Picture Perfect set from the 2016 Occasions catalog. This set has three separate stamps to make the final image and each stamp is numbered to help with the layering. Easy, and SO MUCH FUN!

I saw a Kleenex purse pack that had a heart shape made from roses on it, and I decided to re-create it for my card today. I started by using some Eclipse masking paper cut to the same size as my front panel, then used my SU Heart Framelit die to cut the heart shape. I put the mask down over my card front and began stamping and layering the roses into the open space.  What made the layering technique very easy is the Misti tool. It's so easy to ensure that the stamps are perfectly aligned. I also fussy cut three rose "masks" to use in the process.

Once I finished stamping the roses, I peeled the mask off and stamped one of the sentiments from the set along the side of the heart. The panel was cut with a Mama Elephant die, layered over a piece of Crushed Curry card stock with fun foam to raise it up. The card base is Whisper White. I kept the embellishments simple, just two groups of clear sequin.

I had so much fun stamping with the Misti, I made a second card. This time I used water color paper and Tim Holtz distress inks, using the exact same process. Here is the second card, and it has a totally different look.

To do the blue color wash over the rest of the card front without getting ink on the yellow roses, I placed the cut out Eclipse heart over the image. Using water and a large paint brush I painted the three blue shades. I used my heat tool to quick dry, then heat embossed the same sentiment with SU Craft black ink and clear EP. The image is cut out with a Die-namics die. Again, just a few embellishments.

I think these cards will go to my mom and sister for their Valentine's Day cards.

OH, HELLO

Good morning all,

It's Monday and I'm really working, but since I made this card after dinner last night, I though I'd take some time to post it.

I'm playing with my latest goodies from Stampin' Up, specifically the new Sale-A-Bration set called Honeycomb Happiness. I think everyone who sees this sweet lil' chick thinks she's adorable!

I'm using the latest sketch from Pals Paper Arts, #284. This is an SU only card.

The chick is stamped onto SU Shimmery white card stock with SU Archival black ink and water colored with Blushing Bride ink with my aqua painter and Blushing Bride marker. Her beak and feet are colored with a Crisp Cantaloupe marker. I fussy cut the image and used SU dimensionals to attach to the front of the card. I dropped some Crystal Effects over her beak. The ballon is also stamped on Shimmery white, water colored with Hello Honey and Mint Macroon ink and fussy cut. I adhered it using mini glue dots, but only on one side so it looks more like it's floating, and then added a liberal amount of Wink of Stella over the balloon and ribbon.

I kept the inside super simple using another image from the stamp set and a greeting from Endless Birthday Wishes set.

Just Because for The Paper Players

Welcome to another The Paper Players challenge. This week we are on #279. Nance is our hostess and she has a sketch for us to use. This is right up my alley with the layers and circle element.

I was in the mood to color when I made my card so I pulled out my Hydrangea Bouquet set by Taylored Expressions to work with. Hydrangeas are one of my all time favorite flowers. I love how the tiny individual flowers form into big balls of flowers, and the fact that they come in so many colors from white to deep, deep blue. We do have them out west, but nothing like those that we see every summer when we visit Cape Cod. Of all the colors, I like the green and lighter pink blooms, so that is what I tried to create with my card today.

The image is stamped on X-Press It Blending card stock with Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copics. I fussy cut it out and popped it up with dimensionals onto a Die-namics circle cut from Simple Stories patterned paper. The gingham paper is also Simple Stories and it matched SU Watermelon paper perfectly. The card base is stamped in SU Watermelon ink with the SU Hardwood background stamp. For added contrast I used a TE large scalloped border die and cut some Very Vanilla card stock to layer under the gingham, and then used the vanilla as the large banner element, cut out with a Die-namics banner die. The greeting is stamped on the small banner element, again made using a smaller Die-namics banner die. I finished it with some rather large pink and green rhinestones.

Making Spirits Bright

Hello and happy Friday!

We are going to spend the weekend with friends who live about 50 miles away. Not sure what we will be doing, but I know we will have a great time. I'm sure there will be lots of good food and wine involved.

A few nights ago I put together a couple cards for some of the weekly challenges. This week's sketch by Jen B. for the Freshly Made Sketches looked suitably challenging, and fun. It really stumped me at first, but after thinking about it and looking through my stamps, here is what I came up with.

I used the color palette from this week's Color Throwdown challenge, although my pinks are darker than the swatch.

The cocktails are stamped in Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copics. I made masks and stamped the snow flakes from the SU Endless Wishes set in Soft Sky over the masks. The sentiment is on the same stamp as the cocktail so I carefully inked up just the words and stamped the greeting. There is a liberal amount of Wink of Stella clear glitter over the candy canes and the holly berries. It's finished off with some sparkly embellishments. The panel is raised with fun foam on the kraft card.

Note Card Set

Hello,

I have a fun mid-week post tonight for you. My craft group is meeting a week from Saturday and I promised a make and take using some new SU goodies from the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs. I wanted to come up with something simple for the ladies to make. I decided on a set of very easy note cards using the Flowering Fields Sale-A-Bration set.

The images are stamped onto SU Shimmery White card stock with SU Archival Black ink. They are colored using a aqua painter and Tim Holtz Distress ink pads that I smooshed on an acrylic block and then picked up the color with the aqua painter. The Cottage Greeting sentiments are stamped in SU matching ink to the SU card stock.

You Warm My Heart

It's Sunday and time for our third Paper Players Challenge for 2016. Sandy has a Clean and Simple Valentine challenge for us today.

I made my challenge card and although I liked it, a lot, I questioned if it was truly a CAS card. So, I made another. (Any excuse to stamp, right?)  Here is my second, and more CAS card.

I started with a medium gray card and added a white panel. The sentiment is stamped in SU Archival Black ink. The bunny and heart were stamped on a scrap piece of card stock, colored, cut out and put in place with dimensionals. I added a few embellishments to complete the look. All this white space is not my usual style, but I gave it a shot. I'm thinking I could have used an embossing folder for the background. I'll have to practice some more.

Happy Birthday

Hello and happy Saturday evening all,

I wanted to play with some of my new SU Sale-a-bration goodies that I received in the mail recently. Looking around for a quick and easy design, I decided that this week's Freshly Made Sketch would work just fine for this new Flowering Fields set. 

I paired the new set with some new DSP from the Occasions Mini catalog. This one will go to add to my Birthday card stash.

 I stamped the image in Memento tuxedo black and did some very quick coloring with Copics. For the image in the upper right corner I thought I'd add a little sparkle with some pink rhinestones.
