Book Lovers Have the Best Stories

Hey again,

A second post here this afternoon. Here's a card for day 3 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge and also for the Fall / Winger Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I had loads of fun putting this together! Lots of coloring with my Copics, which I love. This color theme comes for the current Color Throwdown Challenge where the colors are teal, olive, rust and navy.

All stamps are from Concord & 9th. The plaid background is made using the Woven Stripes Background stamp colored with SU Old Olive, Night of Navy and Really Rust markers. It's stamped on a card base of Neenah Desert Storm card stock.

The other images are from the C&9th set called Daily Wear. The images are stamped with Gina K amalgam black ink onto X-Press It Blending card, and colored with Copies in this week's colors. After all of the images were colored, I cut the panel using a Die-namics Wonky Stitched Rectangle die, which I layered onto mats of Old Olive and Night of Navy card stock. The coffee cup is cut out using the corresponding C&9th die. I decided that I needed some steam coming from the cup and this is done using a small heart die from my collection. It's cut from Really Rust card stock, which I then painted with Wink of Stella and added 3 rhinestones for embellishments.

For the inside of the card, I've used stamps from the C&9th Coffee Blend Turnabout set. The layers are Old Olive and Really Rust card stock.

Thanks for looking,
Colleen

Hello There

Happy Sunday to all,

I hope your weekend has been relaxing so far. I can say mine has been and I've had lots of time for stamping, and I'm actually planning on spending most of today stamping too.

Since it is Sunday, that means a new Paper Players Challenge. Anne Marie has a fun theme challenge this week called "Into the Woods." Now, I have many stamp sets that would work for this challenge. My usual approach is to pull out one or two sets, look for a sketch and then papers that works with the stamps, and go. This morning, I had in my mind to make a Christmas card and I'd pulled out my SU Peaceful Boughs set, but as I was looking through my patterned papers, I came across the Pick A Pattern DSP. Well, there went my Christmas card idea! I did this instead.

I've used Jen's sketch from this week's Freshly Made Sketches. It's simple and the design allows the DSP to be the star. I pulled out the coordinating SU stamp set called Pieces and Patterns which works perfectly for Jen's design. This card went together in no time. The green vertical element is the reverse side of the woodland paper design. I stamped the sentiment using black ink, several times, in order to make it very dark. Then used VersaMark and heat embossed it with clear EP, and popped it up with dimensionals after fussy cutting it out. The little puffy woodgrain heart embellishment is from my stash. Probably from a kit I purchased at some point.

Here's the inside of the card. The images are from the same SU stamp set.

Don't you love that little pink fox?!

Thanks all! Have a great Sunday,
Colleen

Chai Adore You

Hello peeps,

With my trusty assistant, who was visiting this afternoon and pictured below, I made another card for three challenges. The sketch comes from this week's CAS(E) this Sketch!, the theme from the Fall and Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, and I'm also trying to play along as much as I can with Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

Using some new Paper Smooches stamps, here is my winter tea themed card.

The winter themed patterned papers are from one of the SSS monthly kits from last year, I think. It's from Echo Park. The cup is stamped using Gina K Amalgam ink in black and colored with Copics and paper pieced with the patterned papers. It was cut out with the Paper Smooches set corresponding dies. The sentiment is heat embossed with white EP.

Here is the inside of the card. The cup, saucer and spoon are from Lawn Fawn. The sentiments are from Paper Smooches.

Thanks again all for stopping by,
Colleen

My assistant this afternoon:

Coffee With Friends

Hello and happy Saturday,

For some reason I was awake really early this morning and just could not get back to sleep so I got up around 5:15 am, I think it was. By 8:00 I had two loads of laundry done and also had gone to the grocery store. I guess it's all good because now I have all day to craft, LOL.

I made a couple of cards last night after dinner. Knowing it was day one of Kathy Rac's 30 Day Coloring Challenge, I wanted to make something to play along. Because of work and work travel, I rarely am able to do the entire 30 days. Day one this time is stencils. I have some Concord & 9th Turnabout Stencils that are super fun to use, so I pulled them out and made my cards.

This first one also uses Jen M's sketch from the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge, although I elected to go with a standard card rather than square. This is pretty simple. Using the stencil with four different shades of SU green ink pads, I made the background. The focal image is from the new coffee themed turnabout set also by Concord & 9th because I wanted to make a card for the Fall Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop.

For the inside of the card, I used the turnabout stamp from the coffee set along with some of the other set images.

I'll post the second stencil card in another post. I always forget how fun it is to use stencils and how easy now that I have a set of blending brushes.

Have a super great weekend and thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Season's Greeting

Hello Peeps and Happy Halloween,

The week is winding down and I'm glad. It's been a busy work week for me and I'm looking forward to the weekend. Since it's Halloween, you'd think I'd be posting a Halloween care, but I'm not. I have a Christmas card for you.

My card uses this week's Paper Players Challenge sketch. It's a good one! I pulled out the very pretty Peaceful Boughs set and corresponding dies and used some of the new Christmas Time is Here DSP.

The die boughs are cut from SU Mossy Meadow and Mellow Moss card stock, the pinecones from SU Early Expresso and Crumb Cake. The large square is cut with SU square and scalloped square dies. The sentiment is heat embossed with gold EP and the little gold embellishments are also SU.

Here's the inside of the card. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and it's also embossed with gold EP.

Happy Friday to all and enjoy your weekend,
Colleen

A COZY Little Christmas

Hello again,

One more card to post late this afternoon while watching the World Series game. The ladies at the Retro Rubber Challenge blog have a fun sketch this week and I wanted to play along with it.

The stamp set is called Cozy Christmas and it's from Sept 2018, so just fits the requirement for the challenge to use stamps at least one year old. This set has a "country" feel to me with it's stitched look images so I used some wood grain accents to go along with it. I like the way it turned out, but when I checked the sketch one last time, I realized that the sentiment in the sketch is under the circle element. Hopefully, I'll get a pass, LOL.

After stamping the panel, I used some white ink mixed with a little water and splattered it over the panel to look like snow.

The inside used additional stamps from the same set.

Thanks all,
Colleen

It's Definitely Sweater Weather

Happy Friday Peeps,

As far as sweater weather, not so much in California where it's extremely hot up and down the state.
But, as I was looking through my stamp sets this morning to make a card for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I came a cross these SSS stamps. They are Christmas Sweater Background and Right Meow. Who can resist these cute kitties dressed up for winter weather?

I finally added the Purple Posy ink to my SU collection and decided to use that color as the card base and sweater panel. The cats are colored with a combination of Copics and SU  markers.  The sentiment is heat embossed with white EP on Elegant Eggplant card stock.

Here's the inside of the card. The sweater background is stamped with Elegant Eggplant then I cut the center out with one of the SU Stitched Rectangle dies.

I hope you have a nice Friday evening and a great weekend!
Thanks for looking in,
Colleen
