Note Card Set

 Hi Peeps,

Jaydee has the color theme challenge for this week's Paper Players. It's a relaxing palette and I used it to make a fun set of note cards.

For the backgrounds, I pulled out four turnabout stamp sets and a fun coffee themed set from Concord and 9th.  I kept them very simple, and for now, the insides are blank.

I made these the night before we left for vacation and took some quick photos so I could blog them.  Speaking of which, this will be my last post for about a month. 

We are currently in Greenport, NY (Long Island) visiting friends. It's very hot and humid compared to our west coast weather. I took this picture on my walk yesterday morning. Their neighborhood is surrounded on three sides by water.

Stay Cool

 Hello,

Just Us Girls word for this week is Summertime and since I already had my Lawn Fawn box on my desk from making my last card, I pulled another cute set to use for the challenge. Appropriately enough, this set is called Pool Party. However, instead of making a pool for the critters to float around in, I made a river for them to float down.

Like my last card, the patterned paper is from my stash box and I have no idea who it's from, but it sure fit the theme well. To make the river, I used a LF stitched hill die and cut out the river from white card stock then ink blended Cadette and Marine blue inks from SSS. The stamp set has a couple of little wave stamps and I've used those with a darker blue shade then highlighted it with a white gel pen. All of the images are stamped with GKD Black Onyx and colored with Copics. 

The front sentiment is finished on the inside:

Summer Garden

 Hello peeps,

I have my card for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Kim's sketch is perfect for using up some fun patterned papers and I did just that. I have a big box of miscellaneous papers from partially used older 6" x 6" pads that are fun to pick from. 

First I picked out a fun Lawn Fawn stamp set then matched the papers to use. The stamp set is called Simply Celebrate Veggies and there are several mini sentiments to go into the speech bubbles. So Fun!

I've been packing as we leave Tuesday morning for the East coast to visit friends, and attend a wedding the first weekend of August. We'll be visiting NY, RI, MA and ME and be gone for approximately four weeks. After Tuesday, my blog will be quiet until we are back.

Backyard Summer Fun

 Happy Hump Day folks,

I'm still working through all of my logins to update them to my new email. What a chore! I think I'm almost to the end now, thankfully.

I took a break from that last night and made my card for Claire's theme challenge for the Paper Players.  The theme is Summer Fun. As with most of us, I have many stamps that would work. Because I think the sentiment for this Avery Elle mini set is so perfect, I decided on it. If you go to the beach, it's spot on!

To make this backyard pool scene, I combined the stamp set with some Lawn Fawn and MFT dies. The background cobblestone stencil is from GKD and the pool water is done by ink blending a couple shades of blue ink on white card stock, then running it through a Spellbinders embossing folder.

Avery Elle has a few stamp sets with the same critters and I used one for the inside of my card. Looks like the bunny is off to do some surfing for more Summer Fun.

It's color week at Just Us Girls. Stephanie has chosen yellow and coral as the colors, a very summery combo.

I had not yet used the June Stitching Die of the Month from Spellbinders, and I thought these colors would make some yummy treats for the front of my card. I did some ink blending after cutting out the card stock then found the floss I wanted to use. I decided to back the cones with the citrus EF from the same release. I ink blended yellow and coral inks on a white panel then ran it through the EF. To make the cones "frosty" I covered the bottom of the scoop with liquid glue, leaving a tiny edge then sprinkled some Distress clear glitter over the glue.

The sentiment is a die from the set and it's cut from coral card stock and backed with black.

The inside sentiment is from the Spellbinders June clear stamp set of the month.

 Hey and happy Monday,

This card was made using the current Color Hues challenge colors of aqua and white. 

I used a PinkFresh Studio background stencil with three different shades of aqua as a backdrop for these fun beverage glasses, also from PinkFresh Studio. I used the clear stamp set and coordinating stencils to color them as well as the coordinating dies to cut them out. I altered the look a bit by cutting off the sprig of greenery at the top of the glass. After using the stencils, I added some shimmer to the ice cubes, unfortunately, my Nuvo pen leaked a bit on one of them. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and it's heat embossed on a darker shade of card stock.

On the inside, I used just a sentiment.

Most of my morning was spent updating websites with a new email. We are ditching our current cable provider for internet and TV and going to fiber optic internet and streaming TV. The cable providers just keep getting more and more expensive. I'll be glad to see them go.

Happy Birthday

Hello,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long 4th of July holiday (U.S.) weekend. Ours was very low key. We visited with friends and I enjoyed watching Wimbledon tennis and some MLB games while doing some stamping and some crocheting.

Most of the western states were hot, hot, hot. Luckily we live on the coast and our temperatures were not hot. Where my mom and sister live, in northern California, the high temp over the weekend was 119 degrees for both Saturday and Sunday. Yikes! Thank goodness they have air conditioning. Some areas were even hotter than that!

I have a card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Linda is hostess this week, and she has a fun sketch for us. I went through a few ideas in my mind, and I finally settled on this, and I need one more July birthday card.

 

This stamp, die and stencil bundle are from Gina K Designs, called You Give Me Butterflies. It's super cute and the images have stencils to make coloring easy. The background stencil is also from GKD.

The sentiment on the inside is from a GKD Mini birthday set.

Birthday Wishes

 Hi Peeps,

Here's a quick post with my card for this week's Paper Players Challenge, this week it's a Tic-tac-toe grid. These are always fun!

I decided on the middle across options Birthday, Heat Embossing and Summer Fun and used new Spellbinders June stamps, stencil, embossing folder, and dies of the month. 

My card is rather busy and after I finished it I thought it might fall into the "more isn't always better, somethings it's just more" category. I like the bright colors and that beachball stencil is really fun. Keeping with the sentiment theme of "sending" I cut the stenciled panel with a postage die and added the postmarks in the four corners. 

The clear stamp of the month set has three little scene stamps for the key and I used the other two on the inside, along with the left over part of the beachball panel after cutting it with the postage die.

 Happy Monday Peeps,

It's July 1 and time for the Championships/Wimbledon tennis tournament, which means that  I'll be in front of the TV for a lot of the next two weeks. Luckily, I can make cards and/or do some sewing while watching. It's all about multitasking, LOL. 

I made a card last evening using the current Color Throwdown challenge, which ends in just a few hours. This is the first time using this die set from Concord & 9th. It took a few tries to get things lined up correctly. I ended up running the plate through the die cutting machine with the embossing rubber mat to get the lines to glue the pieces down, which worked pretty well. The background polkadots are made using a C&9th stencil and black ink. All of the card stock is C&9th too.

The stamps and all of the dies are part of the same set. Hello was cut three times and glued together. I added some Nuvo shimmer over it and then glossy accents, but it's hard to see in the photo. The other part of the sentiment is heat embossed with white EP.

Here is the inside of the card. Very simple, and the sentiment is also from the same set.
