Challenges New and Old

Good afternoon stampers,

I hope you are all having a fun and relaxing weekend. Like many of you, Sunday brings two of my favorite blog-land challenges, Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge and Stacey's Curtain Call Color challenge. It seems that I've gotten into the habit of combining the two to see what I can come up with, and this week is no exception. Although I didn't have time last week to play along, I did end up making a card late Friday night using both last week's colors and sketch. It was too late to actually participate in the challenges, so I'm showing it in today's post, hence today's post title.

I'll go in chronological order starting with the card that follows last Sunday's SSSC 98 sketch and CCC, Act 63 colors of bashful blue, cajun craze, chocolate chip, always artichoke and whisper white. The stamp set is from the up-coming SU Sale-a-bration mini called Sweet Summer. I used my aqua painter to water color the images and the patterned paper is retired SU DSP.

Here is the card made following this week's SSSC 99 and CCC, Act 64 colors of pacific point, cherry cobbler, marina mist, always artichoke and whisper white. The large tea cup stamp is a single stamp that I've had forever from Art Impressions. I loved the button grouping that Karen used here on her card and I have shamelessly {grin} copied her using a mix of SU flowered brads and a button. For the center of the flowers I used SU round "Ice" brads (both are retired). I layered the scalloped border element under my image instead of over as it just seemed to work better here.

Tomorrow I'll be back with a card made for Saturdays Sweet Stop challenge layout. It's made with my first "Stella" digi-stamp. So, see you all back here tomorrow.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Colleen
