Later Gator

Hi again all,

Here is the second card that I made for Laurie's Humorous theme challenge for the Paper Players.  When this set was released a few months ago I knew I had to buy it. It's one of my favorite good-bye sayings to wee ones. However, in this case, I made it for our good friends that we just vacationed with out in Mass.

The background is made by gluing strips of card stock in different colors to a 4.25 x 5.5 inch piece of copy paper, then cutting with the Neat & Tangled Snake Scales Cover Plate. I adhered it to a piece of heavy weight Whisper White card stock for the card base. The Alligator and Crocodile are stamped with Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copics then die cut using the set dies. The greetings are  stamped both on white with black and on black with VersaMark and heat embossed with white EP. I just cut them in rectangles using scissors and popped them up with dimensionals. Some jewel tone sequins finish the embellishments.

The inside uses a SU sentiment along with more images from the Neat & Tangled set.

Thanks again for looking in,
Colleen

Happy Birthday

Happy Thursday afternoon peeps!

I've not had much crafting time this week, but I did manage to finally get a card made for this week's Paper Players challenge last night after we had dinner. This week, Jaydee has a sketch challenge for us. It's a classic with loads of design options. I, however, went with it just as it's laid out in the graphic.

I pulled out some really old SU DSP to coordinate with this embroidery themed stamp set from Neat and Tangled.

The hoop and stitched images are stamped onto SU Very Vanilla card stock with Memento tuxedo black ink. The cross-stitches are stamped with SU Regal Rose ink. In order to get them lined up around the circle, I used the Misti stamping tool. It came out better than I anticipated, which is always nice, LOL. The flowers, french knots and hoop are all colored with Copics. After coloring I fussy cut the image out so it could be layered onto the card. After putting it all together (before gluing it) I decided it needed something a little more. I remembered I have a ton of these paper SU doilies. However, white was the wrong color so I sponged one around the edges with the SU Regal Rose ink. I cut a circle from So Saffron card stock to layer behind it, then mounted everything on the card. Much more interesting!

The horizontal element is more DSP from the same package and a piece of So Saffron card stock cut with a Die-namics Fishtail Flag die.

Here is the inside. The images are stamped on So Saffron card stock and colored with Copics.

Besides work this week, I've been finishing up prep for a vacation to South America. My sister and I are flying to Quito, Ecuador on May 3 to meet up with my nephew, her son, who has been there since just after the first of the year for a semester abroad for college. He finishes school this week. We will stay in Ecuador for the first week, then the second week fly to Peru where we will stay in Lima, Cusco and visit Machu Picchu. We fly back to the US on 5/18. Needless to say, she and I are excited for a new adventure! But, I have a few more days to get in more stamping challenges, so I'll "see you" on my blog for a few more days.

Have a great rest of your Thursday!
Thanks for stopping by,
Colleen

Sending Hugs

Hello,

I made this card on Saturday using this week's Case This Sketch, sketch, and I thought I'd better get it posted before the challenge ends. This is another new stamp set that I bought in New Jersey a few weekends ago. It's by Neat and Tangled, called Hand-stitched.

I like the embroidery hoop element and there are also several flowers, little cross-stitches and french knot images. There are co-ordinating dies too, but not for the hoop so I fussy cut it out for my card.

I used my Mini Misti to arrange the images inside the hoop and to line up the bottom row of cross-stitches. They are all stamped with Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copics. The card base is randomly stamped with other images from the set. After popping the hoop up with dimensionals, I added the pink and green pearls. I think they are the perfect embellishments for these sweet, "stitched" images.

I hope you have had a good week so far. I've had a very busy Monday and Tuesday at work and it's looking like the rest of the week will be more of the same.

Thanks for looking in,
Colleen
