Cheers to You On Your Birthday

Hello and Happy Friday,

It's a coolish but sunny day here on the Southern California Coast, kind of perfect actually. I probably should be out for a walk, but instead I've been rummaging through my fabric stash looking to see if I have enough fabric to make a quick tree patterned quilt that I found on Pinterest. I'm looking for ideas for a birthday gift.

I made the birthday card using Jen T.'s sketch for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I pulled out some older SU DSP and a couple of  older Avery Elle stamp sets to make this card.

The background is the Floral Backdrop cover plate from Pink Fresh Studio, and how about those sweet scallop shell embellishments from Trinity? So Cute! I had to use them on the inside of the card too.

The stamped images are colored with Copics. I used some Fruit Punch Stickels glitter over the drink to make it look even more tropical.

I also made a Holiday card using Jen's sketch as inspiration. This die set is from Simon and it's called Berry Wreath. The background is hot foiled with the Waffle Flower Triple Line Diamond plate and the greeting is hot foiled with the Pink Fresh Studio Perfect Sentiments Holiday set. This is a fun die set to play with.

Enjoy your day!
Colleen

Warm Wishes

 Happy Hump Day Peeps,

I thought I'd better get my card done for this week's Paper Players Challenge. Ann is hostess with a great sketch this week. I took the opportunity to make another Holiday Card.

I used several supplies from several different companies, Avery Elle, Concord & 9th, Gina K Designs and Stampin' Up.  This card was basically designed as I was making it, starting with the large glimmer paper snowflake. I had it on my table from some projects I was working on yesterday and I decided I needed to use it for the corner element in Ann's sketch.

The card stock and glimmer papers are from Stampin' Up. The center glimmer paper panel is cut with a stitched rectangle die from SU and embossed with the GKD Snowflake embossing folder. The large snowflake die is also GKD. I cut a circle from the Tahitian Blue glimmer paper to place under the snowflake making it easier to pop up.

The background is made with the Concord & 9th Snowflake Turnabout stamp. Ink colors are Tahitian Blue, Blueberry Bushel, Night of Navy and White.

The stamp set is an older Avery Elle set with corresponding dies called Polar Pals. There are several sweet images, and these guys are colored with Copics.

I used the Turnabout stamp again for the inside panel, this time stamped using Soft Sky. The two sentiments are from a newer GKD set called Snow Carolers, with another image from the Avery Elle set.

Thanks for checking in,
Colleen

Holiday Cards

 Happy Monday Peeps,

I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing weekend. I made a dent in my holiday card making using a couple of new Gina K Designs stamp sets.

First up are cards made with the Snow Carolers set and dies.

I mass produced 11 cards, not 12 because I dropped an inked stamp across some of the already colored and cutout trees. {Sigh}. These are fairly labor intensive, but are pretty cute when finished.

The only variation in some of the cards are in the gems used for the buttons. All of the card stock, stamps, and the EF are from GKD. I used Nuvo white liquid crystal drops on the red hat and scarf ends on the left snow person. For the snow on the trees and lamp post, I first used SU white liquid enamel followed by a dusting of Distress Rock Candy (glitter). The photo doesn't show it, but I also used a sponge dauber to apply liquid glue over the raised snow flakes in the background and then sprinkled the Distress Rock Candy over so the background  has some glitter as well. IRL, it sparkles. The ornaments on the trees are made with SU red liquid enamel. All of the images are colored with Copic Markers. I used a Copic Black Multi Marker to hand draw the long stripes and chevron stripes on the scarves. For the white polka dots, I used a white gel pen.

The second card uses the GKD Blizzard set. The technique is one that Gina demoed in a recent FB Live episode. I made 10 cards. Six with white embossing powder, two with silver powder and two with gold powder. The ink colors used in the blending vary.

Here are three using white embossing powder.

Here are examples of the silver and gold embossing.

I used GKD inks for the blending and Prisma Colored Pencils and Gamsol for coloring the snowflakes. I used sentiments from the mini Wishing You Christmas stamp set, and GKD gems for embellishments. The top layer and mat are cut using the GKD Master Layouts 2 die set.

If you like to color, these cards are for you. I really had fun making them.

Have a good week,
Colleen

You + Me = ADVENTURE!

 Happy Hump Day Peeps,

I had a fairly early dental appointment this morning, then home in time to put together my card for LeAnne's Paper Players Challenge. This week is Clean & Simple week, with the added them of wheels. I have many stamps that would work and after looking through my sets, I decided on Gus and Gertie. This set is called Ride On, so it's pretty perfect for the theme.

The new Freshly Made Sketches challenge starts today and Jacquie's sketch made a great start to putting together my card.

My idea with the houses was to have the BFFs skating through the neighborhood. The DSP is from SU.

Here is the inside of the card:

My afternoon plans are playoff baseball and I'm starting a new crochet project.
Enjoy your Wednesday afternoon/evening and thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Happy Fall Y'All

 Hello,

The inspiration photo for the new Fusion Card Challenge is so pretty that I had to play along. I pulled out some pretty old Stampin' Up fall stamp sets and embossing folders to make my card. From the photo, I used the colors, pumpkin clusters and leaves for my inspiration. I also used the sketch.

Because I used all older stamps, I'm also linking up to the current Retro Rubber Challenge.

I hope you are enjoying the weekend! Thanks for checking in,
Colleen

Pumpkin Spice

 TGIF Peeps,

This week has been overcast and misty, bordering on rainy, which is perfect for staying in and watching playoff baseball games and making a few cards.

Yesterday I used this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge to make a card for my nephew, who's also my BB buddy. He lives in Minneapolis, but as a Pacific Northwest transplant, he roots for the Seattle Mariners. My team is the San Diego Padres. Both are total underdogs, but are in the Division Playoffs, and we have been having fun texting each other during the games.

I made this fall themed card using stamps, papers and an embossing folder from Gina K Designs. The background is a fun technique where  Gina uses an embossing folder combined with her woodgraining technique. It really does make a fun and striking background. For the inks, I used a warm cocoa, dark chocolate and a dark orange.

The patterned paper is from Gina's new fall paper pack. I used a blending brush and Honey Mustard ink to change the color for my card.

The sentiment is from a new mini stamp set and the pumpkin is from a fall stamp set from last year. I changed the square to an oval as it fit the sentiment much better.

I used greetings from the older stamp set on the inside.

Enjoy your weekend!
Colleen

EEEK!

 Hello,

I've got my card for this week's Paper Players Challenge. It's color week this week and Laurie has a perfect Halloween color combination for us, Orange, Green and Purple.

A few months ago, I ordered some of the Sizzix Tim Holtz Halloween dies. These are so fun! I also ordered a set of the Halloween Distress Mica Stains. I really have no idea how to use these, but I had fun playing with them on these cards.

In addition to the Mica stains, I used some embossing folders to create the backgrounds. So far, I've made three cards, and I think I will probably make a few more.

Here's the inside. For the greeting, I used one of the Sizzix dies to make a stencil then used Distress Oxide Black Soot and a foam blending tool.

Here are the other two card fronts. These dies are all part of the same set.

Thanks for checking in,
Colleen

Happy Birthday

 Hi all,

Happy Saturday. I'm spending my afternoon watching Wildcard Playoff Games, and practicing a new crochet pattern. It's a Cable Stitch pattern and a little tricky, so far. Could be that I'm distracted by the BB, though.

The Gina K Designs Monthly Mix Challenge for October is White on White with a pop of another color. Truth be told, it's not my favorite type of card, but it's always fun to play along. I decided to use Silver as my accent color and one of my favorite GKD sets, Delightful Daisies. Of course, Embossing Folders work well with monochromatic cards and I've used two on my card, along with the GKD Stitched and Double Stitched Oval dies, ML 2 dies, a ML 4 banner die, GKD Silver and White fine detail embossing powders and GKD pearl embellishments.

The daisy image is heat embossed using GKD silver EP and I used a Copic marker to add some shading. The butterfly is stamped on GKD vellum and heat embossed with Silver EP and I brushed Nuvo clear glitter over the image. The mats are GKD Silver card stock, as is the sentiment banner. For embellishment, I added some GKD pearls in the lower corner.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Hey, There and Some Purple Pumpkins

Hello,

I have two cards made using this week's sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  It's a classic sketch this week that warranted more than one card.

In addition to the sketch, my first card uses Joanne's theme of Changing Seasons for the Paper Players Challenge.

This cute little squirrel gathering up acorns for his winter stash is a good representation of the changing season. My latest SU order arrived this morning and it just happened to include this stamp set, perfect timing for an afternoon crafting session. I pulled out some fall themed DSP to go along with.

Here's the inside. I didn't add a greeting, just the image of the squirrel's buddy. More room for a personal message.

The second card uses the same FMS sketch with the current color theme from Color Hues Challenge. The colors for this challenge are Orange and Purple.

The stamp set is an older SU set called Gourd Goodness. The leaves are stamped in orange shades on a basic white panel. I used Gina K.'s woodgrain technique on the panel to make a background for the purple pumpkins.

Here's the inside of this card.

TGIF tomorrow! Have a great Friday, and thanks for looking in,
Colleen
