Hello

 Hi peeps,

I made the front panel of this card by using the partial die cutting technique for the three flowers in the lower right corner a few weeks ago, but then got rather frustrated about what to do with it, so I put it away in my box of unfinished projects. A few days ago, I pulled it out and played around with some different ideas and finally finished it. I'm not sure I love it, but as Gina and Tom always say on their FaceBook Live sessions, "it's better than horrible," and I'm sure I'll send it.

I've used several GKD stamp sets and a stencil and a coloring technique from one of Gina's Live demos.

The flowers are stamped first with Love Lavender ink, then I used a few darker purple shades of Zig markers to stamp over the lavender. Before adding the vase, flowers and sentiment, I used the flourish stencil to add some interest to the background, using Plum ink on the top white panel and using white craft ink on the inside panel.

The sentiment is a GKD hello die with shadow. The shadow is cut from vellum and the sentiment is cut twice and layered. I added some Nuvo clear glitter gel over the letters and after that dried, I went over them with some Glossy Effects.

Thanks for looking in,

Colleen

Celebrate Birthday Cards

 Hello all,

I hope you all had a fabulous "hump day." I started the day with eye surgery #2. I had the lens replaced in my left eye, due to cataracts. Just like my right eye, all went very well. Things are a little blurry, but other than that, it's all been good. I'm so glad to have both completed now.

Yesterday, I played around with LeAnne's sketch for the Paper Players Challenge. I made three cards, all using different supplies and techniques.

This first card is simply put together with some fun patterned papers, dies, and a pre-printed sentiment strip from the March SCT kit. I added some enamel dots from my stash.

Here is the inside of this card. The stamped sentiment is from Concord & 9th.

To make this second card, I used masking paper, ink blending and silhouette stamping. All supplies are from Gina K Designs, including the pre-printed sentiment strip. I used three different GKD stamp sets on the three panels.

Here is the inside of the second card.

And finally, the third, and my favorite card. My favorite because it uses the same sketch, but looks quite different. I used the same stencil over three different patterned papers with three different ink colors, cut strips and put them back together to make the original image.

For the inside of this card, I used another piece of the patterned paper on the inside with the same stencil and a die cut sentiment. (I'm not sure why the card stock looks purple in the picture?! It's really pink like the picture above.)

Thanks, LeAnne, for such a fun sketch. I'll be saving this one for sure!

Have a good rest of the week, and thanks for looking in.

Colleen

You are such a blessing

 Hi stamping peeps,

It's Clean-and-Simple week at the  Paper Players Challenge, and Laurie has a timely theme called Blooms to go along with it. My card was super simple to make and took about 10 minutes, maybe even less. I did some masking and ink blending, with some basic stamping.

I cut a piece of GKD Masking Magic to the size of my white card base and cut an oval from the middle. After adhering the mask to the white panel, I ink blended three pastel shades of GKD inks using blending brushes. The ink colors are Innocent Pink, Lovely Lavender and Peach Bellini. I removed the mask, placed the panel into my Misti and stamped the flower image and the greeting with GKD black amalgam ink. The white panel and black mat are cut using the GKD Master Layouts 1 die set. These are layered onto a Lovely Lavender top folding card base.

Here is the inside.

This card is for my mom. She's not been feeling too well this week. Luckily, my sister is staying with her for a couple of weeks, as I'm still having some follow up visits after my eye surgery.

Thanks for looking,
Colleen

Happy Day!

 Hello,

Hoping you all had a fabulous weekend. Yesterday, we went on a fun "field trip" with friends to the North Park area of San Diego to visit a store that specializes in bar ware and accessories. They had lots of retro style glass ware, books and a huge selection of bitters. After we were done shopping we went to the South Park area to another fun neighborhood wine bar that also serves great cocktails. (North and South park are neighborhoods north or south of Balboa Park.)

I spent this morning altering baseball pants for the same friend's son. He got new pants last week, but they were too long, and also needed the legs tapered some. His mom doesn't sew, so they asked if I would do it. It was a quick and easy project.

I'm squeaking in my card for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge. While looking through some of my SU sets, I saw the older Cheerful Critters set and wondered if it would work for Judy's sketch. This is a slimline style card, and I think it turned out fine, and, another birthday card for my stash.

Here is the inside. I've used images from another SU set called Amazing Life.

Have a great week, and thanks for stopping in.

Happy Birthday in Rainbows

 Hello. Happy Hump Day!

I received my order from the latest Gina K Designs release yesterday, and I couldn't wait to ink up some of my new stamps and use the latest Master Layouts die set. This ML#10 is for making full size slimline cards. It's similar to the ML#7 for mini-slimline cards. There is also a new layering stencil set called Confetti, so of course, I had to use it as well.

I started by cutting the stitched panel from white card stock, then using the layering stencil set to add the confetti using blending brushes and inks in rainbow colors. Because this is a very long panel, after inking the last color, blue, I flipped the panel and inked the same colors, but in reverse order.  For the 2nd stencil in the set, I used pink ink and for the 3rd, I used lavender ink.

I put this aside and cut the center elements from lavender and black. These dies are part of the ML10 die set.

For the slice of cake, I first stamped the layers using rainbow colors, then stamped over using GKD clear embossing ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then stamped the cake slice using Warm Cocoa ink. I wiped the ink off the embossed layers, being very careful not to smear ink onto the white potions. To ink the rainbow on the candle, I just used corners of stamp cubes. All of the images were then cut out with the set dies.  After gluing everything together, I used Expresso Dimensional Pearls for frosting on the top and on the layers.

The larger Happy Birthday die is new too. I cut the shadow from vellum and the happy from black card stock. For the birthday, I blended dark and light lavender shades onto a scrap piece of white card stock, then die cut the word. Using liquid glue, I glued the words to the shadow.

Here is the inside of the card.

I used an action wobbler behind the cake slice. So fun!

Now I have another cute, and fun, birthday card for my stash. There's lots of friends with birthdays coming up this spring, so it will get used.

Thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Best Wishes

Hi crafting friends,

I haven't played along with the Fusion Card Challenge in awhile, but I really liked the sketch this time and I have several rose stamps and dies that made it easy to play with both options. My card is a mini-slimline version. The stamp set is from Gina K Designs and I colored it with Copics.

I made this on Saturday, prior to eye surgery I had early this morning for cataracts. All is well with that so far and I expect to be back to stamping by tomorrow.

The black  and white striped paper in the background is a misc piece of patterned paper from my "grab bag" of patterned papers. I used an SU embossing folder on the turquoise (Bermuda Bay) card stock. Clearly, I turned the layout from landscape to portrait.

Here is the inside of the card.

Hope the rest of the week is a good one for you.

Just a Little Hi From Me

 Hello,

It's Sunday evening and I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I had some time this afternoon in my craft room and made a couple of cards.

This one uses this week's  Freshly Made Sketch for the layout and the theme from the new Paper Players Challenge. The theme for this challenge is Spring, and I think this very pretty flowered SU DSP is perfect. I combined it with the Color and Contour Stamp and die set, the Sale-a-bration Special Moments set, along with a few other SU dies to make my card.

I hope the week ahead is a good one for you. I'm having eye surgery early in the morning, but it shouldn't be too bad, as it's for cataracts. I'll have the other eye done at the end of the month.

You Will Get Through This - CardsforUkraine

 Hello peeps,

A few days ago, Gina from Gina K Designs released this digital stamp and she is donating 100% of the sales to Global Empowerment Mission to help with the Ukraine crisis. In addition to the sunflower image, the file has several great sentiments.

My card today uses this image and a few other GKD supplies.

I printed the image onto white card stock and and colored it with Copic markers, then fussy cut it out. The background is made with the GKD Layering Hearts stencil, GKD Blue Raspberry and Powder Blue inks, and a blending brush. It's cut out with the GKD Master Layouts 7 stitched die for mini-slimline cards. The mat is GKD Blue Raspberry card stock. The "You" stamp is from another GKD stamp set and the bottom sentiment is part of the digital download for the sunflower image.

The Color Hues Challenge is running a special color combination challenge of blue and yellow, so I'm adding this card to their challenge gallery.

On the inside of my card, I've used an older GKD stamp set that has the same sunflower image in three sizes. I kept it simple stamping the smallest three times in Wild Dandelion ink and using a sentiment from the recent Forrest Friends stamp set.

Have a good day all. Thanks for looking,
Colleen

Hope Your Day Is On Point

 Happy Hump Day peeps,

I pulled out some older SU DSP to make my card for this week's Paper Players Challenge. Anne Marie has a great sketch for us this week and it is a good one for using patterned papers with all the layers.

While the papers are older, the stamp set is a new one from the current SU Mini Catalog, page 66. I love that it has kind of a whimsical feel to it, and I love that it's a photopolymer set. I did order the bundle, which has a punch, not dies. I really wish SU would just do dies instead of punches. Less storage space, and every image can be cut out. I fussy cut the images instead of using the punch. Easier and faster for me.

I think the sentiments are just as fun as the images. I ended up making my card into a birthday card by using an older SU set for the inside greeting. Ink choice colors are from the colors in the SU DSP paper. Card stock and inks are SU.

All of the dies that I used in the layering are from Gina K Designs. I used a couple of the Master Layout die sets and her single and double stitched oval die sets.

Here is the inside. The sentiment is from the SU Watercolor Wishes stamp set.

Hope your day is a good one.
