Birthday Wishes

Good morning,

It's Sunday and time for a new Paper Players challenge. This week for challenge #286, Nance has a bright and bold color palette for us.

I have drawers full of single, wood mounted stamps that I rarely use any more. Sometimes, I get ambitious and pull them out to see what's there. Last weekend, I got in my head to do some organization in my craft room, and of course, I had to pull out a few drawers of stamps and look through them. It's almost like shopping, going through them. I decided that I'm going to try to start using some of these stamps and did just that for my card today. I think it looks good in these bold colors.

I stamped the image in Memento tuxedo black and colored it with Copics then cut it out with a Die-namics square die. I used my SU hexagon EF because the black patterned paper has a hexagon pattern in it. The patterned paper is from a large 12 x 12 piece that I picked up in a local store and I have no idea the manufacturer. I used yellow Stickles in the center of the flower and some black enamel dots for embellishments.

The DT ladies have some awesome cards, so be sure to stop by their blogs today.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, Large Sunflower

Ages ago, when I first started stamping, I purchased single stamps from stamp stores. Remember those wonderful stores?  I could spend hours in those stores and I have tons of single stamps to show for all of those hours. These days, they seem to just sit in drawers of plastic stackable storage bins waiting to be used, as my "go to" stamps are those in sets like Stampin' Up and Taylored Expressions.  Today, when I saw the angled panel on the SSSC card, so perfect for a large stamp, I decided to look through the drawers and use one of those poor, neglected single stamps.

As the weather today here in San Diego is basically that of a perfect summer day (even though it's only March), my inclination was to use bright summery colors.  What could be more fitting than a sunflower to go along with that?

Here's my card for this week's SSSC.  Please enjoy!

Supplies:
Stamps: Sunflower Square by Stampassions and "Kind and Caring Thoughts" set by Stampin' Up.
Card stock:  Taylored Expressions choice snow white and
SU crushed curry and pumpkin pie
DSP: SU "sweet pea" paper pack
Ink: Memento rich cocoa
Copics: Y11, Y13, YR12, YR23, E08, E33, G28, YG45
Embellishments:  SU Crushed Curry ribbon, SU Scallop trim border punch, Taylor's tiny twinkles in gold, dimensionals.

Thanks for looking in today,
