Hey Friend

Hi all and happy Sunday afternoon,

I'm finally back home, and it felt really good to get back into my craft room this morning. We returned from our 29 day trip to New England and Long Island on Wednesday, late evening. We had a great time with our friends on our travels to Newport, RI then up to Bar Harbor, ME.

I needed to make a card to thank my bestie for my birthday present she sent to me while I was gone and so I used the new theme challenge at the Paper Players along with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches challenge to make it.

My card is made with Concord & 9th stamps, dies, paper and inks. I masked the top portion of the white card base with tape prior to stamping with the Pumpkin Patch Turnabout stamp so the top of the card is left white. The large sentiment is from the C&9th Hey Bestie set and it's cut using the coordinating set die. The only embellishment is the added stamped heart with some glossy details added over the top.

Here's the inside of the card which uses another sentiment from the Hey Bestie stamp set.

Enjoy the remainder of the weekend, and thanks for checking in.

Colleen

Thank You So Much

Hello Peeps,

LeAnne has our last Paper Players Challenge for 2021 and it's a color challenge with colors perfect for finishing up our Holiday cards. I pretty much am done with those, in fact I mailed mine out on Sunday, so I used this challenge to make a Holiday Thank You card.

The stamping uses one of my favorite Concord & 9th Turnabout sets and the large greeting is made with a Pink Fresh hot foil plate and die.

Here is the inside with a greeting from a SSS Thank You set.

Mom and I are heading from her house in Northern California to San Diego tomorrow, so we have about a 13 hour drive. We'll be getting up fairly early so we can head out  early. I hope you all have a wonderful day, and thanks for checking in,
Colleen

With Love

Hello and happy Friday!

I've been on vacation for the past two weeks, our annual trip to Cape Cod. We had a great time as we usually do. It's our 8th trip, so we have favorite activities and restaurants, etc. We got home very late Wednesday, (actually 02:30 am Thursday morning due to flight delays) and now I'm back to work Thursday and today. Luckily, working in my home office catching up on e mails and other tasks.

Yesterday afternoon, I had a few hours to get out my stamps, paper and ink and I decided to make a card using Claire's sketch for the Paper Players challenge this week. I've used stamps and papers from the latest Simon Says Stamp Monthly Kit called Mandy's Flowers.

The images are stamped using Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copics. I fussy cut the flower and vase and glued it to the tag cut from one of the papers in the kit. The fence is also fussy cut. I added three small enamel hearts to the tag for embellishment as well as the twine around the fence.

Here is the inside greeting, stamped on another piece of the patterned paper using Memento tuxedo black and SU Real Red inks.

I hope to spend more time in my craft room this weekend. Beginning Monday, I'll be working in Palm Springs, CA for the next two to three weeks. I'm going to try to bring some craft supplies since I'll be traveling by car instead of flying.

Have a great weekend,
Colleen

Happy New Year's Eve to all,

I hope the last holiday weekend of 2017 is a happy one for you! Mr Personal Chef and I are at our friend's in the Central Coast wine country for the weekend. We've been having a fun time, as we usually do. Tonight we are going out to dinner, we'll probably be home early and watch the TV New Year's Eve shows. Nothing much exciting! How about you?

I have a quick post with another card that I made at my Mom's last week. This is a set called Lots of Lavender from the 2018 Sale-a-bration catalog. The sketch is the current Freshly Made Sketches.

Happy 2018 to all!
Thanks,
Colleen

Your Kindness Means So Much. . .

Hi,

Another Sunday afternoon and that means another work week is almost here. Boo!

I had more stamping time this morning and took advantage of it to make a thank you card using the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch and the colors from The Color Throwdown. The stamp set is another new one from the upcoming SU Holiday Catalog called Painted Harvest.

I started by masking off the center of a Whisper White panel leaving just a center rectangle with low tack tape. I made a couple of masks with  post-its for the flower, then randomly stamped it around the open area with Memento gray ink. The stamp set is one of SU's 2-Step Stamping sets and I used the same stamp pad to stamp both layers, the center and the texture dots. Love the look of the gray flowers for the background in the sketch. (I did make another card with this set using pinks that I'll post later in the week.)

For the card base front, I used the TE Burlap EF to add texture. The dies are all Die-namics.

Here's the inside:

I hope you're having a relaxing Sunday afternoon and evening.

Thank you for stopping in,
Colleen

Thanks for Your Amazing Hospitality

Hello crafty friends,

I hope you had a nice, restful weekend. My only complaint is that it was way too short! My work week is going to be busy, but at least that usually means the week will go by fast.

I had a few hours in my craft room today. Most of the time was spent doing some organizing. I did get a chance to make a card for the new Paper Players Challenge. Sandy is the hostess this week with a fun color challenge. The palette is perfect for a floral card and I actually have one in mind I want to make later in the week one evening after work. Today, I went in a very different direction with my card. Although, there are some flowers on it too.

I have not used this stamp set before, and thought I'd see what I could do with it using Sandy's colors. I think it turned out pretty well. I turned it into a thank you card to send to our friends in Massachusetts that we spent our vacation with last month.

I started by sponging Calypso Coral ink over the MFT brick stencil. After sponging with the coral ink, I sponged some Crumb Cake very lightly over the coral to create a slight darker shade. I cut the piece to about 1.5 inches wide to use as the front entry flooring. Next, I used paper from the SU Wood Textures DSP pack to stamp the door and frame, and the die was used to cut it out. There is also a die that cuts the actual door on three sides so it opens. Very cool! The inside is lined with some So Saffron card stock so it peeks through the windows. The rest of the images are stamped onto Whisper White with Memento black and colored with Copics that match the challenge colors. They were all cut out with the SU set dies too.

The card base is Bermuda Bay that is dry embossed with the SU Textured Stripes EF. I arrange all of the pieces to make my little scene. The tall flower vase actually has pumpkins on the stamp. I cut them off and hand drew the bottom of the vase with a black multi-liner pen. It worked out pretty well.

The inside is super simple.

It was not a quick card to make, but it was super fun to make the little scene, and I love it.

Have a great week everyone.  I hope to have some time in the evenings this week to play with more new stamps from the SU Holiday catalog and to make that floral card I have in my mind.

Thanks,
Colleen

You're Flippin' Awesome!

Hello all,

I hope that you've had a fun and relaxing weekend. I certainly did. Yesterday some weekend chores in the morning, Little League BB in the afternoon and Big League BB in the evening. Today, Mr. Personal Chef and I walked into our little town for the Spring Street Faire. We bought some new wine tools that look pretty cool. In fact we also bought a set for our friends. Since we just happen to be going to dinner there this evening, I came home and made a card to go with the gift. Our friend Jai is an awesome cook and we eat there frequently. (His son Nic is the Little League player.)

Using Amy's awesome sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, here's the thank you card.

This is kind of a one layer card. Just the die cuts make a "second" layer. The card base is SU heavy weight card stock. I stamped the images on X-Press It Blending card stock with Memento black and colored them with Copies. Using the MFT set dies I cut them out and placed them around the SU wreath, cut from black card stock. I decided to embellishment with the scored lines, using my Score-pal.

Here's the inside. The Thanks sentiment is Lawn Fawn.

I really like how this one turned out.

Have a wonder week everyone and, as always, thanks for checking in!
Colleen

Thanks For Being So Sweet

Hello all,

As I write my post today, I'm filled with much gratitude (and a little sadness) because it's my last post as a Paper Players Guest Designer. My challenge card today is made especially to thank these PRETTY AMAZING LADIES,  LeAnne, Jaydee, Nance, Sandy, Claire, Laurie, Joanne, and and my fellow Guest Designers for 2016, Linda and Hannelie. It's to thank them for the AWESOME time that I've had being included in this wonderful group for the past twelve months. I have enjoyed every week more than I can say! I'd do it again "in a heartbeat" as the saying goes. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, ladies for inviting me to be a part of your fabulousness!

So, onto this week's challenge. Jaydee is our hostess for the final challenge of 2016. Her theme this week is a color challenge. Here you go:

I made a CAS thank you card using the challenge colors and some Avery Elle stamps and dies. The card base is SU Brushed Gold card stock. The top layer is SU Shimmery White card sock. I cut the Avery Elle Sentimental Thanks die from SU Brushed gold paper. Using the same die, I cut it from the Shimmery White panel then pushed the gold die cut in place like a puzzle. I stamped the small macaron cookie and the bow from the AE set, Bonjour, with VersaMark craft and heat embossed with SU silver and gold EP, then cut them out with the corresponding dies. The sentiment is from the same set, heat embossed in silver. I added a small clear gold enamel heart and dot, and a glittery silver enamel dot for embellishments.

For the inside of the card, I typed the names using my Mac computer and printed them onto a piece of Shimmery White card stock in a gold font. I trimmed it down to size then heat embossed the MFT sentiment in silver and added another clear gold heart.

You'll find more silver and gold sweetness here on their blogs:

The Paper Players will be on Holiday for a few weeks and start back up in January. While I won't be on the DT next year, please be sure to look for my entries as I will be playing along every chance I can.

Again, thanks so-so much ladies! I've truly enjoyed being part of this group for the past year! Hugs to you all. To you, and all my blog visitors, have a wonderful Christmas holiday and a very Happy New Year!

As always, thanks for stopping by,
Colleen

Happiness Is a Grateful Heart

Hello all,

I hope your weekend is going very well. It's Sunday and time for our first Paper Players challenge of November. Laurie is our hostess this week with a timely theme challenge. Here you go:

I've been traveling for work for the past several weeks and unfortunately, my stamping time has been very limited. I usually try to have my Paper Players card done early each week, but for this week's card, I was frantically trying to get it stamped, colored, photographed and blogged late yesterday afternoon. Luckily, my idea turned out well, so it all came together pretty quickly. A great sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch helped!

I wanted to do something seasonal, and this sweet little image by Jennifer Nilsson for MFT stamps was the perfect choice. As you all know, I love to color, so I colored her up with my Copics. I found this great seasonal patterned paper to use for the sketch layout and it has an added bonus of having the perfect message for Laurie's theme this week too. The stamped sentiment is from the set and it's stamped with Early Expresso ink.

The inside uses some images from a super old SU set called Autumn Harvest. I layered the squash and pumpkins using the masking technique. The inside greeting is from the MFT set.

The Design Team has some awesome inspiration cards. Stop by and say "Hi."

Have fun with Laurie's theme. I know we'll see some great cards again in the gallery.

I'm off to Nashville Tuesday and back very late Friday night. I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Colleen
