Autumn Wishes

 TGIF Peeps,

I'm having so much fun using the SU Hello Harvest and Fond of Autumn Bundles. Yesterday's post had two cards made with these sets and today's post continues with them.

Today's card is for this week's Paper Players Sketch Challenge brought to us by Jaydee. Here's what I came up with.

Much like yesterday's cards I began by stamping the oak leaf from the Hello Harvest set randomly with fall shades. I cut that panel and a mat from Early Espresso using the GKD Master Layouts 1 die set. The stamped focal image is from the Fond of Autumn set and is placed across a panel cut from the SU Gingham Cottage DSP. The focal image is colored with Copics and popped up with SU Dimensionals. I added some SU gold gems for embellishments.

The inside uses a greeting and images are from the Fond of Autumn set. The card base and images are stamped on Vanilla card stock.

One of my favorite crafting projects is to make seasonal banners from felt. I've made many for myself and friends. I decided to make a set of fall wall hangings for a friend who has a new vacation home on Long Island (they live here in So. Cal.,) and they happen to be there for the next few weeks for her birthday, which is Sunday. I'll be sending these today, probably via FedEx so they arrive close to her birthday.

I use felt mostly from Taylored Expressions. It is easy to work with, especially with dies. I use many dies from my stash to make the projects. For the larger die cuts, I use fusible and iron them onto the background fabric. For small pieces, I use hot glue.

These are in some very in-expensive faux wood embroidery hoops from Michaels. I wanted to use traditional wooden hoops with the screw tightener at the top, but two of my local stores were out of them, so I got these.

Have a great Friday and weekend, and thanks for looking in!
Colleen

Wishing You the Loveliest Day

Hello,

I needed to make a couple of birthday cards for two friends who's birthdays are October 1 and October 2. I decided to make fall themed cards for them and I really had fun using the Hello Harvest stamp and die set.

This first card uses the new Fusion Card Challenge. I managed to use the sketch and the Fall theme, as well as the colors.

No challenges used for the second card. Like on the first card, the leaf is randomly stamped around a white panel, but this time I used darker shades. Using the postage stamp die from the GKD Master Layouts 4 die set, I cut out sections of the stamped panel. On the kraft panel, I stamped the leaf using kraft ink and the "stamping off" technique.

Using the same greeting on both, it's is heat embossed using white EP on black card stock and cut out with the set die.

TGIF tomorrow! Have a great day, and many thanks for looking in.
Colleen

Hello

 TGIF Peeps,

Any plans for the weekend? We are going to dinner to celebrate birthdays for two of our friends whose big days are Oct 1 and Oct 2. Both families will be on vacation on the actual B-days, so we are celebrating a week early. Other than that, not much in our plans.

I made two cards using this week's colors for the Global Design Project's color challenge. One of the cards also uses the sketch for the Sunday Stamps Challenge.

The first card is a basic A2 size. I cut some scraps from card stock in the three challenge colors in various widths and glued them to a piece of copy paper. I used a SU Stitched Rectangle die to cut it out, then dry embossed it with the SU Wood Grain EF. The flower is from the SU set Ranunculus Romance. I used SU markers to color directly on the rubber before stamping it and it's cut out with the corresponding set die. The hello greeting is part of the set. After gluing everything in place, I decided the card needed a few embellishments, so I pulled out some old SU flower sequin and place them around the die cut flower.

The second card is made with images and dies from the same set bundle. This is a full size slimline card. I used the Gina K Designs Master Layouts 10 die set to cut the stitched panel and the shadow panel. All of the other supplies are SU.

The bottom layers of each flower is cut from basic white card stock, then colored using a blending brush and Flirty Flamingo ink, blending darker in the center. The leaves are cut from Parakeet Party card stock and then I used a small brush to blend Parakeet Party ink over the cut out shape.

I made four flowers, but only needed three for the front so I used the other on the inside. The inside greeting is from the SU set Amazing Phrasing.

That's it from me today. Thanks for looking in and have a great weekend!
Colleen

A Million Blessings

Hey there,

It's been awhile since I've been here on my blog, but I'm finally back home with my stamps, ink and paper. I needed to take an unplanned trip to help my mom while she recouped from an illness in mid-August, and I was gone for almost six weeks. Because it was an unplanned trip and I needed to leave quickly, I wasn't able to pack any craft supplies. I'm happy to report mom is mostly is back to her ole' self and feeling well enough to be on her own again, so I was able to head back to my home on Saturday, arriving after a thirteen hour road trip driving the length of California.

Of course, Sunday morning, I checked out the new Paper Players Challenge which is always a good one to get my mojo flowing again. This week, Claire is our hostess with a fun fall theme of leaves or scarecrows. I decided to use a new Gina K Designs set called Doodled Autumn and made a couple of  clean and simple cards with ink blended backgrounds in typical fall/Autumn shades.

For this first card I used torn pieces of masking paper to mask off the sides of a mini-slimline panel and blended GKD Tomato Soup, Prickly Pear and Fresh Asparagus inks down the center. The leaf images and the greeting are stamped with Charcoal Brown ink. The panel is cut with the GKD Master Layouts 7 Stitched die and mounted on a mini-slimline card base.

On the second card, I used GKD Faded Brick, Tomato Soup and Prickly Pear ink pads, smooching the ink on an acrylic block and then spraying it with water before placing it down on a piece of Tim Holtz water color paper. After drying the panel with a heat tool, I cut it out with a Pink Fresh Studio rectangle die then placed it in my Misti and stamped the larger leaf image and the greeting. The card base is GKD Charcoal Brown card stock to match the stamped images.

After mom was feeling better, we took a trip to Portland, OR to visit my sister. My niece came with her 9 month old son as well. Mom enjoyed her first great grandchild and I enjoyed my first great nephew. He's a super happy baby and in four days, I didn't hear him cry or fuss. Lots of giggles though! Here's a picture of mom and Brady.

Thanks all,
Colleen
