You are freakin' FANTASMAGORICAL!

Happy Sunday afternoon to all,

I hope you've enjoyed your weekend.

Here's a card that works for two challenges. The sketch comes from this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge designed by Narelle, and I took her sketch literally when picking stamps and design. This also works for the new Paper Players Challenge. Since it's the 5th week of the month, Anne Marie has a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. I love these! I used the diagonal of sparkle, die cut, and wet embossing.

I stamped all of the images with embossing ink and heat embossed them using fine detail gold embossing powder. The images are colored with Copics and cut out using the coordinating dies. The sentiments are from a coordinating sentiment set. The larger is gold embossed and the smaller stamped with black ink.

The inside of this card uses more images from both stamp sets too. This greeting is pretty funny. I don't think I've used this particular one yet.

Wishing you all a great week a head. Thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Wishing You A Very Happy Day

Happy Saturday to all!

We are headed out to watch our young friend play in his high school baseball game a little later this morning, then I have crafty plans later this afternoon while I watch my MLB team play a game broadcast from Mexico City.

First, I wanted to get my card posted that I made for Amy's Wood Block Wednesday Challenge. This card was fun to make, and I mostly did the designing as I went along. I didn't have a "destination" for the final card, but I'm really happy with how my layout worked out, especially since I picked out a very simple stamp for the focal image.

I used more wood mounted stamps for the inside of the card, making it a birthday card.

I used Spruce shades for the inks and card base, unfortunately, the photos make the shade appear more teal. The green and gold look nice together IRL.

Enjoy your weekend!
Colleen

love you

TGIF Peeps

I'm squeaking in with my Paper Players card, using Ann's sketch for this week. I actually made it last Monday, but didn't get around to taking the pictures and doing my blog post. Needless to say, this will be a quick post.

I'm using new stamps from Concord & 9th on this card. I'm loving this set and I've already made three cards using it. There are three large stamps that work with each other to make these pretty posies, and then a coordinating die set too. So cute!

Here's the inside using the flower dies. Both this sentiment and the one on the front are from this stamp set.

Have a great day!
Colleen

Sending You Hugs & Kisses

Happy Monday,

I made a few challenge cards this past weekend. This one for the Inspired By Challenge. The theme is Rainbow and I also used the sketch as my layout inspiraiton.

Using the Hugs and Kisses stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh, I arranged the images in a horizontal manner on the front of a white card panel. They were inked with GKD white craft ink and heat embossed with white EP. Next, I blended rainbow shades of ink down the panel.

The sentiments are from the same stamp set, white heat embossed on black card stock and popped up. For embellishment, I added some small paper circles matching the rainbow colors.

The inside greeting is also from the same PPP stamp set. The butterfly is colored with Copics.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for looking in.

Get Well Soon

 TGIF Peeps!

It's a beautiful day here in SoCal along the coast and I probably should be outside, but instead, I'm making cards. Today's post is my card for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge, a fun design by Karen. This card also works for the April Monthly Mix Challenge at the Gina K Designs Stamp and Chat FaceBook page here. This month's technique is reverse stenciling. It's always fun to see the finished result.

I started by randomly blending three bright GKD inks over a white panel. Using the GKD Rose Swirl Stencil I then blended Christmas Pine ink over the entire panel. I know usually this part is done with black ink, but I knew that the dark green would set off the bright colors nicely, plus, something unexpected. I happened to really like the end result.

I used this reverse stenciled panel as the paper to stamp the flower images from the GKD Bloomin' Wild stamp set. I stamped them several times using Amalgam black ink then heat embossed with clear EP. For the centers of the flowers, I used Wild Dandelion ink direct to paper, dried it well with my heat tool, then stamped and embossed the flowers again as before. I fussy cut the centers of the yellow flowers and glued them to the first flowers.

I think the result is like the old "pop art" images and I love the final card.

I added a flower bud from the same stamp set to go with the greeting on the inside of the card.

Enjoy your day!
Colleen

Sending Birthday Wishes

 Happy Thursday peeps,

I have another card using another much neglected background stamp from Taylored Expressions. This one is the Wildflower Background stamp. I thought it perfect for this week's Color Throwdown colors of aqua, yellow and celery. I ended up making a mini-slimline card.

After stamping the image in Memento black I colored it with various yellows, blue-greens and green Copic markers. After coloring, I cut it out and made a mat using the GKD Master Layouts 7 die set. The card base is made from retired SU Certainly Celery card stock.

For the front greeting I used dies and stamps from the SU Sending Smiles stamp set and coordinating dies.

For the inside, I stamped a tiny section of the background stamp and used a sentiment from the Honey Bee Inside Birthday stamp set then cut it out with the GKD ML 7 dies as on the front.

Enjoy your day, and thanks for looking!

From My Craft Room to Yours

 Hi all,

Our friends have departed and yesterday my craft room was put back together. This afternoon, I got busy and made a card for this week's Paper Players challenge. LeAnne has a fun crafty theme for this month's Clean and Simple challenge.

I pulled out a long neglected Taylored Expressions Crafty background stamp, along with the matching Crafty Simple Strips stamp, and the coordinating banner die to make this card.

I started by cutting three sizes of circles in mylar to use as a stencil and then ink blended the three circles.  Next,  using some GKD Masking Magic strips in 1/2 inch width, I masked the edges of the white panel before stamping the background. It's stamped with craft black ink and heat embossed with clear EP. After embossing, I cut the panel down using a SU Stitched Rectangle die.

I used two of the sentiment strips and popped them up with thin strips of foam tape.

The inside of the card uses another of the strips glued over a stamped pair of scissors. I think this sentiment is funny and perfect for us paper crafters. The scissors are from Concord & 9th.

Needless to say, I'm super happy to be back in my craft room. Have a great Thursday, and thanks for looking in.
Colleen

day after day, year after year

 Hello peeps,

Jaydee is hostess this week for the Paper Players  with a theme challenge, animals 2 x 2. I decided to use this sweet mom deer and her fawn and make a Mother's Day card.

All of the images are from the SU set called In the Meadow. I stamped the deer in the foreground, masked them, and then stamped the rest of the images to build the scene. I colored the images with Copics.

Here is the inside. The greetings are from a couple of Gina K Designs stamp sets.

Our neighbor's rescue golden retriever completed a course so she can take him to school with her (she's a 5th grade teacher) yesterday, so I made a Congrats card for them. I think it turned out pretty darn cute. All images except the dog are from Concord & 9th. The dog image is from SU.

Finally, here are a couple of masculine birthday cards for friends who have their birthdays next week, both fronts and insides. Images are SU.

I made the background  on the following card using a SU EF and inking with multiple ink colors and spraying with a little water before adding the paper and running it through my die cutting machine. I made the wood planking using my Scor-buddy and inks.

This is my last post for a few weeks. Our friends from MA are arriving tomorrow for vacation. My craft room is also the guest bedroom, so I've moved most everything to the garage while they are here.

Thanks for looking,
Colleen

I've got a sweet friend card for you today. I've used a couple of sets from Pink Fresh Studio and the colors from this week's Color Throwdown challenge.

The patterned papers are from SU and were perfect for the colors in this week's challenge. I used a Pink Fresh Cover plate to add some texture to the polka-dots and used another pattern for the three cross pieces.

Have a nice aftrernoon and evening, and thanks for looking,
Colleen
