HEY!

Hello,

I'm half way through my two week road trip and I'm looking forward to heading home on Thursday evening. Since today is Sunday, it's time for the Paper Players challenge 301. We sure had fun celebrating #300 last weekend. This week, Joanne is our hostess with a fun sketch.

I made my card the evening before flying out, so I needed to keep things pretty simple, but no less cute. I love this bear from Ellen Hutson and he was perfect to use for a friends birthday card.

I didn't take a picture of the inside. It says, LOVE, HUGS, SUNSHINE and Happy Birthday!

As always, you'll find awesome inspiration when you visit the other DT's blogs listed below:

Fiesta. . . Time To Celebrate

Hello,

I hope everyone had a good week. I left home yesterday for a two week work road trip! I'd rather be home stamping, LOL.

Now on to this week's challenge... It's a Clean and Simple theme challenge from Jaydee: Celebration! To celebrate this occasion we have blog candy to give away, and lots of it! The team has assembled not one, not two, but ten grab bags full of stamping goodness! To be eligible to win one, all you need to do is play along with our challenge this week. You can play as many times as you like, but each needs to be a new project (no back linking, please) and see The Paper Players blog for our other challenge rules. Winners will be selected from all PP300 challenge participants using Random.org and will be posted on Saturday, July 25.

My card today was made for a very good friend's father who recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Now that's something to celebrate too! The birthday party was Mexican fiesta themed with yummy tacos and other Mexican treats as well as super yummy margaritas. In keeping with the Fiesta theme, here is what I came up with:

I wanted the images to be super bright so I used my Misti stamping tool and stamped each flag twice. While it looks like there is a lot going on here, it was really pretty quick and easy to make this card and I love how bright and cheery it turned out.

Please see the Paper Players post for information on challenge rules and how blog-candy works. I will be participating with a fun birthday themed grab bag. Since I'm actually away from home for next two weeks, my blog-candy winner will receive the package after the July 4th holiday, which is when I return home from my travels.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week ahead.

Happy Thoughts

Hello,

It's time for a new Paper Players challenge. This week my friend LeAnne is our hostess and she has a fun color challenge for us.

I decided to challenge myself and use this patriotic color palette to make a floral card using some new to me stamps from Altenew.

My card layout is a CASE of the bottom card in this post by TaeEun. I really like the layout of her card with the flowers and patterned papers along the bottom. I kept the layout in my mind and decided to give it a try for today's card.

This is one of Altenew's stamp sets with stamps for "three layer" stamping. The flowers are stamped entirely with Cherry Cobbler ink. For the lightest layer, I "stamped off" twice before stamping onto the vellum. The middle layer was "stamped off" once. The final layer I used the ink full strength, re-inking and stamping it again for a really dark finish. The Misti stamping tool sure helped with perfect placement for the layering! For the leaves, I used the outline leaf stamp and inked it in Dapper Denim. The three flowers and the leaves were cut out with the coordinating dies from Altenew.

The background is made with another of the stamps from the set with Dapper Denim ink, as is the sentiment in the lower corner. I added a few light blue rhinestones for minimal embellishing, since I "need" some embellishment on my cards.

Here is a look at the inside:

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations using this fun patriotic color combination from LeAnne. You can see the rest of the DT's cards on the Paper Player's blog or visit their individual blogs here:

I hope you all have a nice and relaxing Sunday. Unfortunately, I'm working to get finished with a work project that I was given very little time to complete. (Woe is me!) As always, thanks for stopping by.

Dad, You're the Coolest

Hello out there,

It's the first Sunday in June and time for a new Paper Players Challenge. Claire has a fun and timely theme challenge for us this week. It's time to make those Father's Day cards.

I had many ideas bouncing around in my brain and in the end, I decided to pull out my Lawn Fawn "Best Pun Ever" set and make a CAS card.

The popsicles are stamped in Memento tuxedo black and colored with red, turquoise, and orange Copics. I added a liberal amount of Wink of Stella so they look "frosty." They were cut out with the matching Lawn Fawn dies and mounted on a white panel cut out with a Die-namics die. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. The large white space just called for some sparkle, which I added in the form of red, turquoise and gold sequin.

I have a super busy month of June, compliments of work. I'm starting a project Tuesday that normally takes six weeks and I've been asked to complete it in eight days. Then on the 18th, I leave for two weeks of work travel. I will be glad when July comes, LOL.

I'm looking forward to seeing your Father's Day cards. I know there will be tons of awesomeness!

Thanks for stopping by,
Colleen
