Peace & Joy

Hi again,

I intended to post a couple of cards that I made last night for another challenge, but instead, I'm posting what I just made for this week's Paper Players Challenge. Anne Marie has a color challenge for us this week, and my first thought, when I saw the colors was "YIKES!" I went looking though my patterned papers to see what I had that would work and found the Tranquil Textures DSP with two of the colors. So, OK, I can probably build on these and figure something out. Also, I still wanted to do a Holiday card for my upcoming craft group.

For the card layout, I ended up CASE-ing a card on page 44 of the annual catalog. Once finished, I thought it looked kind of blah. I ended up making another card, kicking things up a little. In the end, with some embellishments, I actually like them both.

Here's the second, kicked up version card.

As you can see from the challenge banner, Anne Marie's colors are Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron, and Crumb Cake with a fourth color of our choice. I choose to use Tranquil Tide, another color in the Tranquil Textures DSP. I did use white too, but I'm considering that a "neutral."

The background stamps are from the Winter Woods set. The bare trees are stamped using Crumb Cake ink. The evergreen trees are stamped with Tranquil Tide. I glued the strips of DSP in place after stamping and then cut the panel down using a Die-namics Stitched Rectangle die. It's backed with a mat of Mint Macaron card stock and glued to the Blackberry Bliss card base. The greeting element is made using the SU Christmas Traditions Punch Pack, backed with a Die-namics Stitched Square border die. For embellishment, SU has a twine pack called Natures Twine that includes three of the colors, so that was perfect for the sketch that I CASE'd. I added three sparkly SU enamel dots in white for additional embellishments.

On the inside of the card I used a sentiment from Timeless Tidings.

Here is the first card I made. It's a small 4.25 x 4.25" square card.

And here are both cards together.

Basically, the same layout, just some additional stamping and a traditional A2 card size.

Thanks much!
Colleen

  5. Sorry my colors scared you a little at first, Colleen! From the look of your finished projects, I’d say you pretty much rocked the combo in the end. Tranquil Tide was a color I wasn’t so sure of when it first came out but now it has become one I use almost TOO much. You just convinced me that i need the Winter Woods set immediately. So pretty! Thank you so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players!
