My cyber friend Claire is this week's hostess for the Paper Players Challenge, and she has a sketch challenge with a twist for us this week. I had tons of fun with this challenge and I made two totally different cards. I'll post the second tomorrow.
This one I made for our little friend Liam, who has his eighth birthday on October 5. Since I love this SU dino set, and he's eight, I grabbed it and the DSP to make a card using Claire's challenge.
In addition to the sketch, the twist is to make a tall and skinny card. My card is 9 inches tall and 3.75 inches wide.
The card base is Mango Melody card stock. I stamped the dinosaur and tree elements and cut them all out with the matching dies. The rectangle is cut with a Die-namics Wonky stitched rectangle die and I used a cloud stencil, blending brush and Pool Party ink to make the background. It is layered onto a Mango Melody mat cut with the SU Stitched Rectangle die. The dinos and tree were arranged and glued with temporary adhesive so I could place the sentiment in the right place. Once that was stamped, then the dinos were glued with permanent adhesive and dimensionals. I also added a few of the enamel shapes that go with this suite.
On the inside I added a Happy Birthday sentiment from and older SU set and my favorite dino and sentiment from the main set.
This wasn't a quick card, but boy, did I have fun with it. Unfortunately, now I have to finish some spreadsheets for work for tomorrow. Boo-hoo!
Thanks for checking in. I'll be back tomorrow afternoon with my second card using Claire's sketch.
