Good morning,
It's Sunday and that means Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge time. I have been having lots of fun this weekend making cards with the February Key Ingredients kit from Taylored Expressions. I know most people think of pastel colors when it comes to Easter, but I decided that combining the bright pink with the black and white would be fun. What do you think?
Recipe:
Card stock, DSP and ribbon from the February Key Ingredients kit. Stamp sets are SU Garden From the Heart and Teeny Tiny Wishes. Memento tuxedo black, pretty in pink, garden green, blush blossom, and bravo burgundy inks. I made two sets of striped papers. One was used for the card background and the other one was cut with the Curved rectangles nestabilities, layered onto pink card stock and popped up with a double layer of dimensionals. Circle and scallop circle nestabilities frame the hat which was also cut out and popped up with dimensionals. That does it.
Have a great week,
Colleen

"Bee Happy" Daisies
Happy Saturday evening all,
I have two cards to share tonight.
My friend needs a card for a co-worker who is moving from San Diego to South Carolina. He has worked with her for many, many years and so he wanted to have something special to send her off with. Here is what I came up with:
I decided that the daisies would really standout embossed. Here, I used white ink and white powder on black card stock, so the image really pops. I first tried the white ink with clear powder but the images were not as bright as I wanted, so I tried the white powder and it made a real difference.
Supplies:
Card stock, DSP, ribbon and polka dot flower are from Taylored Expressions' February Key Ingredients kit. This is a really fun pack of papers and embellishments. I am on my 2nd six month subscription cycle for the Key Ingredients and I just love them. Stamp set is Daisies, a retired SU set. The center of the daisies are build-a-brad from SU as well as the yellow corduroy button used for the center of the polka dot flower. Ink for embossing is SU whisper white craft. Other ink is Memento tuxedo black. White EP, Dimensionals, mini glue dots and pop up glue dots are used.
Next, one of my co-workers turned 40 on Thursday. We are having a cake for him on Monday and this is his birthday card from me.
Supplies:
Green card stock and DSP are also from the February Key Ingredients and SU brilliant blue card stock is used for accent. Stamps: The Porsche stamp is from Classic Status Stamp Co., and the greeting is SU. Chip board numbers are colored with orange ink and glittered. The Porsche is colored with Copics then covered with Luscious Lime Smooch to give it a metallic paint look. Inks are Memento Tuxedo Black and Pumpkin Pie. Dimensionals used to raise the Porsche and circles, and a silver gel pen used for the chrome accents on the Porsche.
That's it for tonight.
Thanks for stopping by,
Colleen

Bakin' up SSSC 56
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
I have been having a great day stamping, watching the Olympics and just being kinda lazy. Isn't that what weekends are for?
Karen has once again provided us with a fun sketch to follow. As I've said before, I like using a variety of geometric shapes on cards. I first thought I might pull out one of my older stamp sets with a spring feel for today's card, but couldn't resist using my new toys from Taylored Expressions.

While looking thorough my DSP stash to go along with Tena, I decided I wanted my card to have a retro feel. I think these cherries fit the bill. I really like how it turned out, and I hope you do to.

Red Butterflies for Mojo Sketch 124
The last of this past week's sketch challenges for me is the Mojo Monday sketch. I usually make a card using the mojo Monday sketches, but don't always post them to my blog. This weeks, I decided to post.
With this card, I'm finished making my Valentine's Day cards for this year. I have a friend who loves the look of red, white and black. Not really my "cup of tea," but I found these papers in my stash and decided to see what I could come up with. I think she will like the look. I hope you do too.
Here are the details:
SU real red and whisper white card stock, DSP from ??, SU real red ink, SU red polka dot grosgrain ribbon, SU embosslits heart and butterfly dies, greeting is from Taylored Expressions "love everywhere" stamp set, SU ticket corner punch, silver pearls, the big shot.
Have a great week everyone,
Colleen

Sugar for Taylor's Friday TESC #99
Well, I seem to be doing this past week's sketch challenges in reverse order. I just don't get much stamping time during the week, but I enjoy "playing" with the sketches to see what I can come up with.
This sweet card will be a Valentine's Day card for one of my young nephews, Nathan. He is 11 and he LOVES sweets as much as his Auntie.
Recipe:
SU green galore card stock, choice buttercream cardstock, DSP and ribbon from past Taylored Expressions key ingredients packs, stamps from Taylored Expressions Trick or Sweet II and Sprinkled with Love sets. I used both Copic and SU water color markers to color the cupie and the desserts. Greeting in SU real red ink. Paper piecing was done on the cupie and the cupcake. I used pink candy dots for the bubble gum pieces in the bubble gum ice cream and Expresso dimensional pearls to "frost" the cupcake. SU 1 3/4 round punch, SU scallop edge punch, corner rounder punch, nestibilities, the big shot, paper piercing and a green polka dot brad finish the design.
I think I'm absorbing calories just looking at the finished work. Enjoy!

"Thank you" for Karen's SSSC55
I wanted to make a thank you card for a friend, and this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge by Karen Giron gave me the inspiration I needed. I reached for my pack of Sweet Pea DSP, again, flipped through the pad until I landed on these pretty sheets, and then I let the papers lead me to the stamps. I am quite happy with the results. Please enjoy!
Recipe:
SU pretty in pink card stock, choice snow white card stock, SU sweet pea DSP, SU bons moments sale-a-bration stamp set, Versamark ink, SU silver embossing powder, SU silver twine, SU chocolate chip and sahara sand markers, SU so saffron ink, momento tuxedo black ink, silver pearls, SU scallop border punch, SU polka dot embossing folder, nestibilities, the big shot.

Valentine's Greetings
We are having a wet weekend here in Southern California. A good excuse to stay in and stamp. I am trying to finish my Valentine's Day cards so I can get them in the mail. My goal is to have cards for my sister, her 3 children, my mom and a few good friends who live in other cities. Here are 3 cards that I have completed.
Card #1:

Supplies:
Card #1: Whisper white and pretty in pink card stock, sending love DSP, regal rose ink, I [heart] hearts stamp set, pink corduroy button, modern label, pinking heart corner and border, and triple heart punches, white 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals.
Card #2: Real red, very vanilla and kraft card stock, sending love DSP, large heart and medium jewelry tag punches, real red
