Giddy Up, Cowgirl

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Paper Players post. Today Laurie is our hostess with a fun theme challenge for us.

I actually have several stamps that I could have used for this one. My step father was a complete rodeo fan, so every year I would buy some kind of horse/cowboy related stamp to make his birthday card with. Since he passed several years ago, my western themed stamps haven't seen any ink, so this was a fun challenge for me. My card is more for a cowgirl instead of a cowboy, though.

There are some really high end and expensive cowboy boots out there. Have you heard of the brand Lucchese? I went to their website for some color inspiration to create my card.

The boots are stamped in Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copics. They are cut out with a Die-namics zig-zag circle die which I layered onto squares cut out with a Die-namics double stitched square die. All in all, a pretty simple card design. I added the bling because, after all, what's a western card without some rhinestones?

Here are the boots from the Lucchese website that I used for my color inspiration. These puppies sale for a mere $3000.00.

Here are the links to the other design team's blogs. I know they have some fabulous, fun cards to share with you.

  1. Wow, those are SOME boots! Three grand, eh? That would have to be some rich cowgirl! Maybe she won a lot of rodeos! You attention to detail is amazing and your coloring is awesome! I love the background you created as well...that zigzag look as well as your brads really follow through with the western theme! Awesome!

  2. It sure is expensive to be well dressed cowgirl these days! Those boots are stylin' for sure! Love the colors along with all the fancy stitching!

  3. Those are so pretty awesome boots you colored! Cute sentiment, too. I can't believe the price..wow!

    Have a rootin' tootin' Sunday!

  4. WOW! These boots make me want to boot, scoot boogie! I want to be a cowgirl in my next life! I always say if I could just be young again, I would wear short skirts and cowboy boots like all the young girls! Love your color combo and fancy dies! Have a great week! Safe travels! XX

  5. Fabulous take on your inspiration boots, Colleen. Those colors are fabulous and you've captured them perfectly. That's a lot easier than parting with 3K for the real deal. Great layout and details too...love it!

  6. Your boots are gorgeous and look just like the real thing, Colleen! Fabulous coloring!

  7. Love your chosen colour inspiration Colleen - your boots are a bargain in comparison! I think I could probably stretch to that!! What a great western card!
