Happy Birthday

Hello Peeps,

Happy Hump Day! I'm finished with holiday card making, I think. I haven't gotten them all in the mail yet, but I really think I'm done. I'm back to birthday card making and LeAnne's color challenge for the Paper Players provided some great inspiration.

Here is a pretty birthday card with big blue blooms.

I only used the two ink colors in the challenge. Using the Misti enabled me to obtain different shades of each. For the metallic part, the sentiment is heat embossed with gold EP, two layers to make it nice and smooth. I also added some gold sequins and splattered some gold ink mixed with water using a paint brush.

The stamp set is the Camellia layering set from Altenew. I used the outline stamp and Crumb Cake ink to make the background. On the middle flower, I used all three layering stamps. For the bottom and top flowers, just the outline and the accent stamps as I wanted the white highlights.

Thanks all,
Colleen

Paper: SU Seaside Spray and Whisper White

Happy Holidays

Hi peeps,

I have another Christmas card today. This one uses this week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch!, where my friend LeAnne is this week's Guest Designer. Of course I had to play along!

Here is my whimsical card using older Avery Elle sets. The set I used on the outside of the card is called Polar Peak-a-Boo Pals. I think this moose with the lights in his antlers is SO cute! He is colored with Copics and cut out with the corresponding die. I added lots of Wink of Stella glitter on the lights, but it's hard to see in the photo. The background paper is from a new 6 x 6 Christmas pad from Pebbles called Merry Little Christmas. The card base is SU Real Red.

I wanted to keep the same moose theme going on the inside too. This stamp is from the Avery Elle set called Snow Much Fun. The sentiment is heat embossed with white EP.

Thanks for stopping by,
Colleen

HO! HO! HO!

Happy Weekend peeps,

It's very rainy here in our part of California this weekend. I've been staying in today and stamping Christmas cards. I think I'm finally finished now, although I have a few that will show up in future blog posts.

The Freshly Made Sketches! sketch this week has an interesting vertical element. Like many others, I've used it for the sentiment panel on my card. The stocking and sentiment stamps are Concord & 9th from this year's Christmas release, called Stocking Stuffers.

I made the striped paper using the C&9th Happy Plaids set, stamping with various green shades. The Christmas stocking is stamped with Garden Green ink on the striped paper and cut out with the set die. The rest of the stocking images are stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copics, and cut out with their corresponding dies. The rest of the foliage, tiny tag and bow are also part of the set dies. The sentiment strip is stamped with Hero Unicorn craft ink and heat embossed with white EP.

I used more of the striped paper on the inside and more images from the stocking set.

Unfortunately, vacation is over, for now. Tomorrow we drive back to San Diego. It's about a 6 hour drive, depending on traffic and weather, so the plan is to leave fairly early in the morning.

Have a great Sunday and thanks for looking,
Colleen

Cozy Christmas

Hi again,

For my second post this morning I have another Christmas card. This one I made following the theme challenge for the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog. This week's challenge is to use red, green and white, those wonderful, traditional Christmas colors. I love the cookies in their inspiration picture too. Yum!

The stamp set is from Concord & 9th and it's at least one year old, maybe two. Old enough to comply with the challenge rules, regardless. I love the stitched look of this set. The background is stamped using Hero Unicorn craft ink and heat embossed with white EP on some Taylored Expressions deep red card stock. The sentiment panel is stamped with SU  Real Red and Call Me Clover ink and cut out using a SU die. The holly leaves are Concord & 9th dies. I didn't bring any Call Me Clover card stock so I blended the ink onto Whisper White using a blending brush and cut out the holly leaves and used the rest to layer with. The bow and enamel dots are also SU.

Here is the inside of the card. This is another Concord & 9th set from last year called Merry and Bright.

Have a great day and thanks,
Colleen

Warm Winter Wishes

Hello peeps,

It's the last day of my vacation, boo-hoo. Not to worry because I only have to work two weeks then I have two more weeks off at the end of the year. I've had a very nice time hanging out and working on finishing up Christmas cards. Now I need to begin my December birthday cards, of which I have several to make.

Today's post is a Christmas card using Laurie's theme challenge for The Paper Players Challenge. I've used an older Avery Elle set called Frosty Friends.

For the background snow, the stamp set is the Concord & 9th Snow Turnabout. First I stamped it using white craft ink on Pool Party card stock and heat embossed it using white EP. The snow hills are the same set stamped with Pool Party ink onto white card stock. The hills are cut using MFT Stitched Hills dies. The snow people and sign are cut using the set corresponding dies.

Here's the inside of the card using another sentiment and snowflakes from the Avery Elle set.

We are headed out to a couple of wineries this afternoon then over to Cambria on the coast this evening to attend the annual Christmas Market. They do an amazing job with the light displays.  Have a great weekend and thanks for looking in.

Colleen
