Mermaid Looks Good On You
Hello and happy weekend!
Jaydee has an awesome sketch this week at the Paper Players challenge, and I had a blast making my card. But, before I get to the card details, I want to send cyber hugs to her. Jaydee, I hope your healing well and feeling much better.
I still had the Honey Bee Ocean background stamp on my table this morning from the card that I made last night and decided to use it again. I matched it with the Beautiful Mermaid set by Simon Says Stamp to make my card, and I absolutely love how this little underwater scene turned out.
To start off, I blended some Distress Oxide blue shades on a panel of X-Press It Blending card stock to use as the back drop for the mermaid and her sea friends. This was trimmed down to 2.5 inches wide to use as the strip in Jaydee's sketch. The images are stamped with Memento tuxedo black on X-Press It Blending card stock and colored with Copics. I then fussy cut every image. (I need to see if SSS has a die set for this set, LOL)
To make the side panels of the card front, I stamped the Ocean background onto Island Indigo card stock with VersaMark and heat embossed it using white EP, then trimmed it for the sides.
To assemble the card, I made a side folding card base from another piece of Island Indigo, glued the blended strip down towards the right of the card. Using foam tape, the two sides were glued over the strip so they are raised. The stamped images are arrange and glued with SU mini glue dots and some mini dimensional. The sentiment is from the stamp set and it's heat embossed with white EP onto some scrap from the blended piece, and trimmed to fit across the scene. Yes, several steps, but oh so fun to make!
To make the inside, I used another mermaid image and sentiments from the set. Another blended background is layered to a piece of Pool Party card stock stamped with the Honey Bee Ocean background. I love these sentiments too.
There you have it. Now I need to think of someone to send this gem to.
I hope you have a nice Sunday evening. Thanks for looking in,
Colleen
