Hey there peeps,
Amy's sketch for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge looked both intriguing and a little challenging to me, but after thinking about it, I actually came up with a couple of cards.
The first is a fall themed card with some bright fall colors. I made my own background by stamping the leaf randomly using rust, gold, pink and purple shades of ink, then grabbed a small polka-dot stencil and blended over the stamped leaves using a lighter gold shade.
The pumpkins are stamped in charcoal brown ink and colored using blending brushes. The flowers ae colored with Copics.
All of the Stamped and die cut images are from Stampin' Up.
Everyone of the DT cards are amazing and helped inspire me for sure.
Hi and happy hump day,
The theme for the Fusion Challenge is beachy this time and I thought I'd play along. I do have several stamps and stamp sets that would certainly work. I wanted to also use the sketch and this older Stampin' Up Christmas set seemed to work pretty well. I did add a few images from other sets to go along with, the background waves is from Hero and the shore birds stamp is a very old wood block from PXS.
Hello,
I saw that the latest Color Hues Peach and Gray color challenge ends tomorrow and I decided I should enter a card. (I like these two colors together.)
I've used some older Pink Fresh Studio stamps, dies and stencils to make this card. The inks and card stock are Gina K Designs.
The chevron background stamp from Pink Fresh Studio is one that has removable sections. Fun and easy to use in a Misti. The ink colors are Soft Stone and Peach Bellini. The stamped images are stamped in GKD Slate ink and I used the set layering stencils to color the flowers with Peach Bellini, Slate and Soft Stone inks. For embellishments, I used some gray pearls from my stash.
I used another Pink Fresh stamp set with layering stencils to decorate the inside, but didn't add a sentiment.
Happy Monday evening,
I needed to make a couple of Thank You cards to send to friends for birthday gifts last week. I'm making an effort to use up some of my very large stash of patterned papers and decided to use the Happiness Blooms DSP to make my cards. Since I also have the Bloom By Bloom stamp set, I pulled it out and started playing around. I ended up with seven cards, three Thank You, three Birthday, and one Thinking Of You.
Here's a shot of all seven together. This stamp set doesn't have a die set to go with, so I've done some fussy cutting, used ovals, squares, circles and the Gina K Designs Wreath Builder system for the stamped focal images. I also used all five ink colors found in the papers.
For two of the cards, I used LeAnne's sketch for this week's Paper Players Challenge.
Now, I just need to get the cards in the mail!
Hi stamping friends,
Happy Sunday to you. I hope you are having a relaxing weekend. It's been one for me so far, reading, stamping and watching some baseball on TV. I did make it out of the house yesterday to do a little grocery shopping and to get a hair cut. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon making a card for this week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.
My interpretation is a little different, I think. I first thought of window boxes with some pretty flowers, but when I pulled out the stamp set that I was going to use, it also includes this shelf image and my card took on a whole different direction.
The main stamp set is from Stampin' Up and it's called Nothing's Better Than. The shelves are from a Gina K Designs set called Window Additions and the brick wall stencil is from MFT.
Here's the inside with the rest of the sentiment.
Hi and Happy Monday,
I have a quick post with a couple of challenge cards. Both use Concord & 9th stamps and dies, and coincidentally, they are food related. (that wasn't actually planned, LOL)
First up is a card for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I'm squeaking in just before the entry closes today. I made most of this card late last night, and finished it this morning.
The second card is made for Ann's Kards for Kids challenge for The Paper Players. This week is Clean & Simple week and I made basically a one layer card with the exception of some die cuts on the front. I started by masking off a rectangle area and ink blending a rainbow. I then die cut the food images and stamped the corresponding messages. This stamp and die set from Concord & 9th is called Love You More Than.
After die cutting the food images I used Copics to add some shading and additional color.
For the inside, the greeting is from the same stamp set but the kids are from a really old Hero Arts wood stamp. I think it works well for the challenge theme and for my card.
Hello all,
I hope that the week is going well for you. I'm enjoying some relaxing days doing some crafting and some reading. If the weather is sunny again tomorrow, I may spend a few hours at the beach. The mornings have been foggy but the afternoons have been fairly sunny, typical July weather in San Diego.
For my post today I have two birthday cards because I have several friends with July birthdays. Truth be told, my birthday is this weekend.
My friend LeAnne, who I believe also has a birthday this month, is the hostess with a fun color challenge this week for The Paper Players. The colors are two of the new SU "in-color" shades for 2022-2024, Parakeet Parade and Tahitian Blue. I used a SU set from last year, along with the Gina K Designs Wreath Builder system to make my card.
I stamped the smallest flower from the set in a tight circle working my out to larger circles with the larger flowers. The darker ink shades are made by building layers of ink. (I'm a little disappointed with the Tahitian Blue ink as it is really bubbly. Not sure if it's a function of the sponge ink pad or if the ink pad is just too wet.) The color is really pretty though.
The color challenge for the second card is the current Monthly Mix Challenge from the Gina K Designs blog. This month's theme is black & white with a pop of color. I actually used black and Ivory with a pop of rainbow color.
Stamps are from the GKD Beautiful Bees stamp and die set and I made a full size SlimLine card.
This is a fairly simple card. I stamped the flower image several times randomly over a half sheet of Ivory card stock, colored the tips with Copics using rainbow colors then cut out the panel with the GKD Master Layouts 10 - SlimLine die set. The bees and sentiment are from the same stamp set.
I added another greeting from the same set with a bee on the inside.
Happy Hump Day tomorrow, and thanks for looking in.
Colleen
Happy Sunday peeps,
I'm finally back home after spending five weeks at my mom's house. It was a great visit with mom and my sister, who came for two of the weeks that I was there. Northern California temps are HOT this time of year so I'm enjoying the more moderate coastal temps here at home.
I'm also enjoying having all of my craft supplies available. I usually take a few things with me since I spend so much time there, but occasionally, I'm wishing for something that I know I have at home.
For this post, I have a card using a new stamp set and new DSP from Stampin' Up's July-December Mini catalog. The sketch is this week's Freshly Made Sketches.
It feels strange making a Fall themed card this time of year, but I loved this new Hello Harvest stamp set and the new plaid DSP. The yellow plaid paper and the Cajun Craze mat are cut with the Gina K Designs Master Layouts 3 die set, and I colored the flowers and sentiment banner with Copics.
I had originally cut the plaid card stock in a larger square so when I cut the smaller square, I had a nice border that I used here on the inside. The HB sentiment is from another SU stamp set called Lovely & Lasting and the flower is an image from the Hello Harvest set.
